Sawadee!

I am looking into enrolling in Chiang Mai for Boxing, getting a ED visa in the process.

But it seems like I also have to pay the school 15000bhats for my kids so that they can

be dependents. Is that the correct procedure?

I just wanted to enroll myself and then have them as dependents, isn't that something to

be done by immigration?

The children would need non-o visas that can only be obtained at a embassy or consulate. Then they would apply for extensions of stay at immigration that will be equal in length to yours.

I suspect the 15k baht it to provide the documents for the visas and then to assist with their extension applications.

Documents for the Visas would be something I can do myself, right?

Many embassies and consulate will want something from the school to confirm you are attending the school. Some schools are reluctant to provide anything since they assume they take on some liability for the children's stay.

Ok, but isn´t the school obligated to give him some sort of paper for his ED-visa? Can´t the same paper then be used for his children in combination with the ED-visa?

That might not be enough at some nearby embassies and consulate some family members have been turned away with only that proof when applying for a non-o visa.

They may want the children's name shown on a letter requesting the visa for their student.
