Hello, i've been reading the requirements for a Thai to visit Greece and some of them are hard to provide.
My girlfriend is still a student (her last semester) and she doesn't officially work (she is a freelancer/designer) and in the requirements it mentions that she needs to verify that she works. Also about the 50 euro daily. Is it okay if her mom transfer her like 100.000 baht at once, or it has to look like money she worked for?

So the concept is this.. She is 22 years old, still studying, doesn't work because she is studying and her parents are earning above average in Thailand (her dad has business), can she still get a visa for visiting Greece? We are together for around 2.5 years and have plenty of pics together that could prove that if it would help the progress. She is also graduating the next December, so she has to go back to her country for her graduation.

Any help would be great

I have recently been in a situation similar to yours in which a Schengen visa application was refused by the Danish immigration service.

The main reasons for the refusal were the applicant's young age, not married, no children, and unemployed. They therefore assumed (wrongly) that there was a high risk that the applicant would stay in the Schengen area and not return to Thailand.

We are currently in the process of lodging an appeal of the decision.

Good luck to you, but be prepared for the worst.

Start looking here..

https://www.mfa.gr/missionsabroad/en/thailand-en/visas

You are nothing in this application- other than traveling partner. The applicant will need to show the financial evidence with bank certification letter and bank statements (standard issue....around 300 Baht).

A full itinerary plus hotel bookings in her name will be required. Plus flight booking covering the dates involved. Plus EUR 30,000 travel insurance.

There is a checklist you can follow.

It will indeed be mostly up to her to show that she is not an llegal immigration  risk. If she can make evident that she has obligations (study, job, ...) in Thailand,  she should be fine. Don't hide your relationship,  explain briefly that she wishes to see you and your family plus your countries culture, people and language etc . And that you will see to it that she returns and will abide all rules as not to mess up whatever the future may bring.

As for money, they usually don't like large sudden money deposits. It can indicate a loan  rather than being truly her money. It can even indicate human trafficking! Maybe you can sponsor her? If she needs to pay herself, be sure to explain the financial situation. If her mum gives her the money,  I would include a copy of her mum's handbook so they can see her mum gave it and not some loan shark or such.

I was not going to hide the relationship, I mean should I also provide them pictures and proofs that we are long time together and that we really have a relationship. She is indeed studying, so she can get proof from her university that she is studying and she really has to go back for graduating.
As I said she doesn't work, and in the application I saw that they require some work paper or it's not really needed for students? Her mom can transfer her 100-200k baht, is that okay to be done at once since money is coming from her mom?

Also someone mentioned about hotel.. She is gonna live in my home and not in a hotel, Isn't that okay?

Is your girlfriend also a student? Did she provide them proof that she is studying?

Evidence regarding her studies should be enough.

Clearly as a student she won't have any real income (Maybe a small job at best) , so her mother giving her the money would be logical. I'm not a Greek visa officer though.

She should be a me to stay with you (visa purpose: 'visiting friends' instead of 'tourism'). Each Schengen country has specific rules for this. In many countries the host (you) need a to provide a form or a letter that offers the first a place to stay. Often the local town hall or other authority needs to give their stamp if approval.  I don't know how that works in Greece.

The most important documents to provide to request this visa need to prove she has the required funds for the travel (either the funds coming from her mother or your funds as a sponsor) and the reasons to come back to Thailand once the travel is done.

If her mum is going to transfer her the money, make sure to provide both her and her mother bank's statement. She could also point this out on the presentation letter along with the itinerary for the travel.

For explaining the reason of the travel she could explain about your relationship and provide some extra pics of previous international travels together along with some copies of both your passports showing the entry/exit stamps. This adds extra information in regards coming back after her visa is finished, as she have done that in other countries in the past.

She should also show some documentation in regards her studies and that she needs to come back to graduate.

Finally in regards the stay at your home it may depend on the special requirements from the Embassy you are going to use. In some cases some extra papers might be needed to prove you are the owner of the property, sometimes it could be as easy as an invitation letter done by you and in other cases you might need to go to the police in your home country to do this formally, I don't really know how is it in Greece, it might be wise to ask this particularly to the Embassy. An alternative to that point would be to book hotels for the whole stay on her name without mentioning that she would stay at your home, the bookings should be the ones that can be cancelled without any charge if this is done some days previous to the stay.

Yes and yes.

I'm quite confident that they shouldn't have refused the application. That's why we are lodging an appeal.

But this was Denmark. Perhaps you will have better luck in Greece.

The Danish embassy is generally one of easier places to apply for a Schengen visa in my experience. My wife applied for a Schengen visa for Iceland a couple of years ago with no problems (The Danish embassy handles Iceland visas.) and they completed it while we waited. They also speak excellent English.

Yes, that is my previous experience too.

Unfortunately in this case, the embassy - for unknown reasons - decided to forward the application to the immigration service in Denmark.
