I was contending sunnyboys comment "Depends what he was using the agent for." In my view frauding people out of their money doesn't depend on what they were expecting of the agency, just if the money and people disappear they've committed a fraud, as simple as that ????

Edit: I'd go after them with both criminal and civil cases

I was trying to be subtle. It is possible that the complainant was using an agency to commit a perceived immigration fraud therefore could not go to police. NOT that he deserved to be cheated. Right or wrong its Yank fantasy to talk about criminal and civil cases in this or most other cases. If he was just using an agency to check documentation he should have used a Thai friend. No need to use an agency really.

  • Nope - it doesn't. It's a simple case of fraud.

  • Do it yourself...........its not exactly difficult, and at least you know you'll be reliable and won't scam yourself. ????

  • I can see this post being removed, defamation even if guilty,is rife here and TV are shit scared of being party to it. Named a garage that completely f'd up a paint job and that was rapidly gone.

Ok let's keep it simple.

If agents that paid off Immigration (part of Royal Thai Police), run away with your money, you will complain to....Police?

Precisely.

It's not just Visa agents here, this type of scamming is common across many countries, get the cash in the door, do a runner and start up again in another location.

We recently (well 9 months ago now) paid out 10,000 Baht for a company trademark registration to be processed here in Thailand.

The TM processing company was recommend, we were told it would take some time to complete the TM registration process.

Well, asked how it was going last month, the company has disappeared of the face of the earth and done a runner with not just our 10,000 Baht I suspect, the TM was never even submitted for registration.  Bugger.....

Next time, show me the official submitted paperwork before payment and you will only percentage progressive payments.

BTW my Thai Visa agent does not request / receive payment until the my immigration visa process is approved and complete.

It seems extending or getting  new extension based on retirement,

is so easy and quick now, that Agents are suffering, going out of

business and buggering off with your money, another good reason

to do it yourself.
