bangkok to hat yai

Featured Replies

anyone ever made the ride from bkk to hat yai or further south. realistic time of travel ?

Depends how much you want to see enroute !!

Could be done in 2 days & 1 night easily but you'd just be riding all day...

There are some great spots to stop off on that route so why not take a week and see some stuff ??

ill probably do it in 3 days. any suggestions for stops. not beaches. no phuket or samui or krabi or anything like that. i lived in the south for 5 years so i have been all over down there.

I like Tung Song and Pattalung. Lang Suan is ok but no good hotels

What do you propose to ride on? Motorised or pushy?

i did the trip on a ktm duke 390

(a bit old the thread but maybe still interested?)

Roughly a 1000 km (620 miles).

I have no problem to do the trip from our place to Pattaya (560 km) in an 8 hour car ride.

70 km/h avarage is somewhat realistic incl. rest/traffic slowdown.

So I would be surprised if you can't do it in two daytime trips.

Never drive in the night!

You did.

And what was your experience?

I have zero idea how it is on a motorbike.

it was pretty fun as i really enjoy driving/riding. i love the chaos on the thai roads. matches the chaos in my head. the thai roads are horrible for potholes though. almost made me want to turn around.

i made the trip in 2 days. first day i made it to chumpon. stayed in a nice little hotel called nicasio hotel.  clean rooms and a decent rate. nice grounds too.

on the way back it rained all the first day. sucked but thai rain compared to back home is a lovely feeling.

next trip i take i will modify my seat though. not very comfy for that long of a trip.

the ktm duke was more than enough power to handle all my needs.

and ya no driving at night for me either.
