ry www.seat61.com and go to the cambodia links on the left hand side :o

This is a DEDICated TRAIn website al the world, Cmabodia does not have any real train.

The BETTER site is talesofasia.com

from pty choice of 2 routes: 1.via PoiPet-Siem Reap or Battambang: book seat in one of the many ''visarun'' vans to border, get the visum, then wave farewell go into poipet (see that site), seat in taxi to SR (if willing to visit), the next day now due to better road many buses to PP at 6/7 US$

OR; same minivan to HAAD LEK =border beyond TRAT, go to Koh Kong, saty overnite, then choice of bioat (@ 8.00/600 bt) OR daily $weeldrive/van to Manin road SIHANOUK, ten plnety of buses over Camb's best road.

in eithe case an overnite is needed

Hat Lek's goto be the favourite, only if it's to avoid Poipet.

Go via Hat lek and do the boat and stop in Sihanook for a night or so.

I'd only consider Poipet if your thinking of taking a look at Siem riep.

Most reports I've read have recommended heading out to Sukumvit and waiting for a Rayong bound bus, but I also found this:

PATTAYA TO TRAT BUS

Bus from Bangkok will pick-up in Pattaya at 6am and 11am at any bus stand in the south bound lane on the Sukhumvit Hwy. The Thai border closes at 5pm so you must get the first bus to make it unless you are spending the night along the way. Photo shown is the 11am bus. The Pattaya bus stand on Sukhumvit Highway across from Pattaya Klang Road is shown at the right in the photo. This bus stops at all major cities along the eastern seaboard. NOTE: this bus stand is now under construction. Just stand.

Anybody tried this? Do I need to go to Pattaya Klang or will any where on Sukumvit do?

Just grab a bus on Sukumvit that goes to Trat then the mini van to the border. If you need a visa for Cambo they wont accept $ only Thai Baht because that lets them overcharge you depending on the Visa you want it could cost from 1,000B to 1,500B.

Then get a Taxi or Bike to Koh Kong. The best hotel I have found is the Koh Kong City Hotel $15 a night but its a very good hotel and only 2 minutes walk from where you get the Ferry at 8AM every Morning. The Ferry price has just gone up to $20.

The other way to go from Koh Kong is by Van but I have been told this trip is a nightmare.

A good guest house in Snooky to stay is the Ochheuteal Guest house The manager's name is Doe and he will pick you up from the wharf. (016945337) if you give him a call from Koh Kong the night before.

A couple of good places to eat are the GST guest house and rest which is at Ochheuteal Beach. If your downtown ANA servers good food and has fast internet also a travel agent.

I have never traveled from Snooky to PP by public transport but you can get buses, mini vans or Taxi. A good place to stay in PP is "The Flamingo" about $20 a night free breakfast and internet.

Dont have Ice in your drinks or it will be a visit to the Doctor.

Have a good trip.

All the above advice is current as I did the trip last week. I have no financial interest in any of the places that I have recomended this is just my experiance.

Cheers Tony :o

Thank You Tony! I already have my reservations here:

I'm going to hit Sukumvit at about 06:30 and get the first bus going to Rayong or Trat, which ever I see first!

Try and get the bus with a large 99 on the front of the roof thats the quick one, some of the buses stop at every tree. Last Monday I left Koh Kong at 8AM and arrived home in Jomtien at 6PM I caught all the wrong buses. See what happens when I dont listen to my wife. :o
