Only in your mind, and since you have no actual experience with anything you state ... well, nuff said Myself, I'd say pretty damn wise, as I've lived baically rent free, way cheaper since having wives to stick property in their name. Acutally a tidy profit if I liquidated holdings. If not buying property, I probably would not have stayed in TH, as no desire to live in metro area or tourist area, living out of a box condo.
