Thai caption: Younger brother is dead, elder brother is in jail

Sanook reported that a brother murdered his younger sibling after he had been refused money by his mother and threatened to hurt her.

The victim - named as Parinya, aged 22 - had been suffering from mental illness since 2014.

Nonthaburi police went to the house in Rewadee Soi 10 where they found the victim slumped in the living room.

He had been stabbed once with an 18.5 cm prong like instrument.

CCTV showed that his elder sibling Pitipong, 30, had chased him out of the house at 9.29 pm last night and stabbed him.

Then he had kicked him six times in a fury.

The victim managed to stagger back into the house but died there.

The elder brother was waiting for police after they were called. He was taken away for questioning.

Mother Prangthip, 56, said that her younger son was mentally handicapped and had refused to see a doctor or take medication for his condition that had started 5 years ago.

He had asked her for money and after she refused he tried to attack her. Her other son saw this and grabbed the weapon and chased him outside. She didn't see what happened outside.

Investigations continue.

It sounds as though both brothers are or were suffering from mental illness

"Elder brother stabs "mentally handicapped" sibling"

translation; sibling a bit more mentally handicapped then baseline mental handicap

What bit didn't you get

If somebody attack my mum with a knife, I would do same way.

Even if is my brother.

The link say he hit the mum many time before.

Sound like yaba guy, ask mum for money and get angry when not give.

Better he dead.

What is the cut off age for being considered a man-child?

A worldwide problem. Too much hate, too much violence.

Tragedy all round, the mother has one son murdered by her other child, and seems that the mother has been a victim of domestic/family violence.

One cannot imagine the grief she will be feeling, and probably no counselling available for her

what a deranged and misleading topic title. "son defends mother" would be more apropiate. Thumbs up.

How so, on even one level?  This was one family, it is not representative of "this society".

It does and it makes so much more sense than your comment! On so many levels!
