We have exactly the same problem. I've lost count of the number of times my parachute's disappeared up the vacuum when my wife's cleaning the house. As Golden Triangle said, it all a bit of fun, fairly harmless banter. I didn't realise I was mentally ill, will that affect my visa status? I thought sniping was a trait of a hitman. I do remember you're checked for syphilis when applying for a work permit - that's to ensure you don't have it, it's not a prerequisite from what I remember. Sorry for the harmless banter there.
