Not sure I could describe why without having a tasting of both in front of me. I wouldn't disparage anyone with a different view on value for money either.

 

Never heard of Carl J's (where are they?) and the last Taco Bell I was in was 4 decades ago when on work assignment in Houston. Great but no burgers back then I think. Wendy's was my favourite burger in the 70's - wonder what happened to them?

Carls Jr are on Sukhumvit but be warned, they slather their burgers with mayo, which should be illegal in my book.

 

If ever time travel is invented, the first thing we have to do is go back and kill the inventor of mayonnaise.

Not all US fast food travels well. I like a Taco Bell when in the US, the one over here is compete garbage.

I agree, but quite enjoy the Sunrise Tacos on Sukhumvit.

Generally speaking I don't make food decisions based on price any way, I am more concerned about getting what I want, price is not really a consideration as to whether to have it or not.

CJ's has quite a few different locations around BKK, including in the Nana Mall at the corner of Suk Rd. and Soi 4 (3).

 

As for their burgers, if you don't like something that comes default on a particular item, you can just tell them to leave it off, and most of the time, they'll manage to comply with your request.

 

There's also a Burger King and a Starbuck's right nextdoor to CJ there, on either side of their location.

CJ has been in BKK in multiple locations for quite a few years now....

 

Taco Bell opened its first location at Chidlom in BKK some months back, and now has I believe 3 total locations in BKK (Siam Paragon and Pinklao being the others), with plans to add more in the future.

I would think the Burgerking uses higher quality and bigger portion food than Mc D.

 

Burger king far superior to McD's IMHO, they are definitely not "the same".

One of the general differences between McD and BK in the west is the way in which their burgers are cooked -- with McD's cooking theirs on a grill/griddle, and BK cooking theirs over a flame grill (although they also then get microwaved thereafter).

 

Here in Thailand, I have no idea how BK's actually cook their meat, but if their burger patties are flame grilled, by the time they've typically sat around in the store for a long time after initial cooking and then been microwaved, any taste or fresh cooked flavor relating to flame grilling seems to be long gone...

 

I think the OP needs to rethink his idea of a scam. Charging more for a product in 

Burger king than MacDonalds isn't a scam.

BK TH supposedly gets their beef from Australia... McD TH has told me in the past they get their beef from the U.S.  To me, here, they both taste like dreck...

Wendy’s is still in the U.S. and the best burger meat of the bunch imo.

I have often mused on this matter, one of the most important issues facing Thailand today.

 

I generally come down on the side of McDonald's.

 

But where I differ with Mr Kroc's baby is in the price of a McChicken. 

 

I would always go for a 62 baht Zinger Burger at KFC rather than parting with over 90 for his Mc Kai.

I find the fried chicken in McD is more to my liking that at KFC.  They are not the same taste of recipe..  It is lighter and not greasy or fatty at McD.

 

Everyone likes different things, but for me whenever I eat KFC, even just one portion of chicken, I feel sick about 30 minuites afterwards... maybe because it's kind of greasy and fatty, not really sure.  Also the chicken burger they do also is soft and floppy crumbly dry bread, with horrid browning lettuce and too much slimy cream stuff on it.

 

Just my personal taste.  

In Malaysia the Whopper cheese meal at Burger King cost 15 Ringit = 115 THB, wonder why the same meal is almost double that in Thailand when salaries in Malaysia are higher than in Thailand.

You probably know In & Out Burgers is privately owned and is very private as well.   Their expansion has, by choice, been quite slow in light of the popularity of the brand.

 

 The in & Out employees I've observed seem to all have a positive  work attitude and actually act happy.     The articles I've read  claim the company treats them well in terms of wages, working conditions and future opportunities.

 

The only negative I've ever read about In & Out Burger is  some very long lines especially when a location first opens.

 

I agree about liking the idea of having a few in Thailand but won't hold my breath waiting for it.

Perhaps because Thais seem to think fast food is actually good cuisine and are willing to pay 4 times what they would for a normal Thai meal to sit on a plastic seat and eat plastic food.

Unless there are some legal restrictions on pricing, a business that knows what it is doing charges whatever that maximizes profit.

I like to order my BK XL ANGUS Whopper at 7am, that way i know its fresh off the flame grill and not been sitting around and then microwaved.

That is not always the case. Many factors are involved in setting an optimal price for a product. Sometimes lowering the price may actually increase overall profit.

I'm sure that a company like Burger King knows what it is doing.
