Liar! Media points finger at Thai woman who claimed she went on holiday to South Korea

Thai caption: Korean immigration: Only lets one (of the Thais) in

Thai media has suggested that a Thai woman who claimed she was going on holiday to South Korea but was stopped by immigration was really going to work.

The woman claimed on "Jao Ying Noi Heng Andaman" that only one person out of about 50 Thais on a "group tour" was allowed entry.

Netizens cast doubt on her claims that she was just going for a trip.

Sanook delved a little deeper and found out from previous posts that she was going to work - and had asked what to wear so she could get through immigration checks without a hitch.

Stories that have appeared in Thai media in recent years have suggested that tens of thousands of Thais are working illegally in the prosperous nation, notes Thaivisa.

South Korean authorities are increasingly cracking down on the illegal flow of Thai workers to their country.

Speaks volumes about the oppression of the lower classes that force them to seek a fairer existence elsewhere!

Wish they would copy.

A legal foreign worker in SK get a blue photo ID card with all relevant information.

Name in Latin and Korean script, address, employer, allowed duration of stay etc.

All in a credit card size plastic card.

Why do you think so many people are risking their lives to get into Europe?

Oppressed lower classes or economic chancers ?

Thai immigration recently denied my mates wife who was on her way to South Korea to meet with him. They said she was going to work illegally and forbid her to go.

This is a married woman with a foreign last name and quite a travel history in her passport. Never had a problem visiting another country but they stopped her from going to Korea.

This happened about a month ago. She went for round two just last week and was able to go.

It’s not just us who get a hard time from immigration.

Several from our family are there, they can earn 4x what they can in Thailand, most try to stay for 5 years. They just get blacklisted when they leave for 5 years, all the talk about crackdowns is hot air and just for show, same in Australia. If the Koreans were serious about stopping it they would require visas.

TM30 for thais in korea please and jail time, deportation, please never give thais citizenship overthere for whatever reason and never let them buy land or house, please...

My wife's niece has been to South Korea, Denmark and India to work on three month contracts.  It's done through an "agency" and they all go on tourist visas.  There are hundreds doing this all the time.  They earn really good money.  The secret is to not go back to the same country within a one year period or it flags up suspicion.

You can take a Thai out of Thailand but you can't take Thailand out of the Thai....

most are leaving the deserted resorts because of lack of customers to ply their trade in other countries...

She could have been more creative and left via Laos and caught a South Korea bound flight from there. Thai immigration never denies Thai heading to Laos.

Most of these deserted resorts employ Burmese and Cambodians but not Thais. Thailand is being emptied of Thais while Cambodians and Burmese come here. In their countries, the Chinese are replacing them. Funny world we're living in!

India? Why would India need to employ Thais? Never heard of that before! They have like 1.3 billion people to choose from, many of them much more well educated than Thais and able to converse in English. As for lower skilled labor, plenty to choose from in India without needing foreigners. If they did need foreign labor, then Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Burmese citizens would surely receive priority over Thais.
