Fire destroys construction materials store in Nakhon Si Thammarat

A fire swept through a large construction materials store in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Thung Song district early Friday, causing more than Bt100 million worth of damage, the district chief said.

Some 30 fire engines took over four hours to control the blaze, which damaged all the goods inside the Chia Seng Home Makro shop on the Asia 41 highway in Moo 1 village in Tambon Chamay.

All the construction materials, including the paint and paint thinner cans in the shop were destroyed. 

Thung Song district chief Jiraroj Samdaeng said the fire was apparently caused by a short circuit. A similar incident had occurred earlier but in that instance, the fire was put out in time. He said the damage was estimated at about Bt100 million.

No one was injured in the blaze and police have yet to investigate the cause of the fire.
