19th ThaiTECT Annual Meeting urges Thailand to become medical hub

BANGKOK (NNT) - The 19th ThaiTECT Annual Meeting has been held to exchange academic knowledge between the public and private sectors in order to make Thailand a medical hub. The research sector has expressed the hope that Thailand will be able to conduct research and develop new drugs that meet international standards to cure diseases that currently cannot be cured.

 

Dr. Soranit Silatham, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, said today the government is ready to support innovative developments to enhance the country’s competitiveness which requires continuous development and innovation. Therefore, preparing the country for an economy that is driven by technology and innovation and able to increase research and development capability is an urgent mission.

 

Dr Kiat Rakrungtham, President of Thailand Towards Excellence in Clinical Trials (ThaiTECT), said the ultimate goal of the innovative pharmaceutical industry is to acquire new types of drugs able to cure diseases that cannot yet be cured which will help patients attain a better quality of life.

 

The 19th ThaiTECT Annual Meeting was organized on August 29-30, 2019, by the Pharmaceutical Researcher and Manufacturer’s Association in collaboration with relevant public and private agencies. It was attended by over 300 leading researchers from around the world. The meeting is an important platform for determining directions and sharing knowledge on clinical research among the leading researchers.

Have this  'Research sector' been sampling the mary jane oil?

Hopefully they research for new antibiotics given the damage they have done with over subscribing in the past. It will certainly save the WHO from there annual pilgrimage here to tighten the usage. I bet they are still injecting amoxycillin into orange trees.

Here we  go, is this the precursor to "Thailand invents drug for" and then TV posters  will point out the unfortunate news that it was developed 10  years ago by another country.

This  will be then followed by a Thai national poster claiming Thais invented many things and then when asked for an example will  posting the invention to again be told the real  facts that this too had been invented years before buy a foreign country.
