How To Get Laos Visa From Bangkok, Where Is The Office How Long Does It Take?

Featured Replies

I'm doing a visa run to Vietiane and I was told that getting the visa in Bangkok speeds things up.

I emailed the Laos embassy but still no answer days later...

How long does it take to get the visa, is it cheaper than getting it at the border?

Where is the embassy located relative to the bus station that comes from Pattaya and how much would the bus/taxi ticket be from the nearest bus station to the embassy.

Thanks,

When I visited our Company operation in Laos a year or so ago we just got our visas at the Airport, all that was required was photograph and US 30.00 to pay for Visa, I think they will take other currency's.

I would imagine the same rule applies at Friendship Bridge and other Border crossings.

Did it this way to save time in wasting a day or so trying to get visa ay Embassy (It could not be done in 1 day then, probably still cannot be done!).

stop in Khon Kaen on the way up and go to the one there. The Laos consulate is right beside my house.

The bkklaoembassy web site no longer exists. From other sources, I've read that they ask for 1400 THB for a Lao Tourist Visa that should cost 30 USD (at current exchange rates, around 1k THB). Can one pay in US dollars at this embassy?

Do they also ask for "extra" (rip-off) fees like at the Cambodian embassy nearby?

Op just turn up at the border pay the money and you are in Lao. At Chong Mek takes around 30 minutes to leave Thailand and get into Lao. Jim
