All this finger scanning and carry on at swampy etc. ... if you are a 'real' terrorist you wouldn't walk through the front door, you have thousands of kms of Mekong river to do that, even the border crossing don't have finger print scanning, how stupid is that, but if you are a real mean case, you'd cross the Mekong at 3.00am in the morning, or the dry land crossing in northern Laos/Thailand, or Myanmar or Cambodia where a lot of crims seemed to have legged it ....

Agree, the problems seem to be particularly in the Hat yai and yala southern areas as I hear it. Why mix in western farang who present other issues than terrorism.

 

 

The real threat is the total submersion of Thai culture and beliefs to become a satillite of India or China.

I see a huge group of Arab families in my village (they are not refugees). Probably illegals on tourist visa, walking around in the soi during the night and sleep in daytime. Just waiting for immigration to show up and crack down on these shady individuals. 

Yes! Come everyone! Enjoy the food... the beaches... the mountains... the culture... the temples... and sure the adult playground if that is your thing. But remember to always register where you are. Bring your passport everywhere (not the law... but the local plod don't always know that)...  bring extra money to show the authorities that you have enough to perhaps share... and do not be surprised if you find yourself feeling like a Parolee! For that is sort of what you are going to be treated as. Not the 30% of this county's GDP. All of this is a shame... for this country and it's people offer so much more! But the present government and their pockets always seem empty and need so much filling. So do come and enjoy just don't stay too long... unless you are a 'whale' and so a member of the governments target audience.

Total <deleted>.  The unrest in Thailand stems from the political system, corruption, and the most unequal wealth distribution in the World.  Filling out a TM30 isn't going to solve any of that.

National security is the gateway to 1984 type control of the people by the people who are the biggest threat to that nation and is now a favoured tool for many governments around the world. 

As a farang of 13 years living and working in Thailand, I am feeling less and less welcome, trusted or respected on a daily basis. Despite paying relatively high income tax and receiving few (any?) benefits from this, I am treated as a second, if not third, class citizen. Time to look elsewhere I fear...

The problems are Thais mentality with no ifs and buts.

Example... Yesterday my wife got a phone call from the police saying im scaring peoples cows with my motorcross bike. Not true so went for my ride anyway then suddenly the police show up because apparently i hit the cow hearding guy. Absloute rubbish so i hit him and was setup on by a bunch of stupid farmers.

My point is when i call the police because of criminal activity why dont they come out and only come out when lies are made up about the farang? I apparantly am really bad to all the neighbours, create trouble, apparently have guns and all kinds of nonsense...

Fact is though we are the only people to have a document of the land we have to live here and everyone else is government officials friends and families taking up, farming and destroying public and forest land and no one cares.

Im being terrorized daily but they dont care so how can this be an excuse for tm30 because im being terrorized by thais, not the other way around.

I understand the Thai government is introducing a TM54.... it is for people intending to take part in criminal activities to enter what criminal activities they are planning, and where they will carry this out. This needs to be updated every week at the nearest immigration office...

If i setoff a van loaded with explosives outside a popular place and set it off do i need to file a tm30 because its only a couple hours round trip and i wont need to spend the night????????

Thailand used to have its charm.
Now it has its TM-30.

It seems terrorism in Thailand is more of the home-grown variety, not foreigners. Sounds like making foreigners a scapegoat rather than deal with the truth, Thais can't control Thai on Thai terrorism.

The one place I can get the same meal each and everytime I eat there, the food is good. She cannot make salary for her sister who works there because as she put it no faranges, my massage lady may have to give up her business because no customers. This government is in for a big wake up call unless the high season is very good but not looking that way. The TM30 fiasco sure doesn't help things at all
