Mother is arriving Novemeber for a visit, she'll enter on visa exempt ( British passport ).

After 30 days what are the options for extending?

- Is a 30 day extension possible?

- Is a 60 day extension possible?

- After a 30 day extension is it acceptable to leave the country for a couple of days and then re-enter on another 30 day visa exempt?

In previous years she's entered with a 90 day tourist visa issued in UK but is noww struggle to meet the financial criteria with the new online system, they're asking for £5000 bank statement.....

Many thanks.

1. 90 Day non-O SE based on DWP State Pension Letter (If she gets one)

2. 60 Day SE tourist visa (yes, provide a bank statement £some affordability and confirmation of address etc)

From one of the Consulates! (application details in advance at some, personally collect, or personally attend and return SD mail).

If travelling to a consulate is possible?

METV show £5000 up.

Not for SETV. That figure is for METV. Your mother can get a SETV as she did before.

As a family member you can sponsor the trip and provide the financials from your UK or Thai bank.

My mother got a 90 ME tourist visa before without any 'evidence', i think all she did was gave my address.

Any idea what they'd need, an online statement / copies of bank book pages / certified etc?

Thanks.

Is mother living with you? Just wondering what your TM30 intentions were.

TM30 does not concern me, personally i've done 1 in 20 years.

The only reason i did that was to buy a bike in my name as i need it registered like that to cross borders.

The stricter TM30 enforcement is a relatively recent thing.

It is now IO procedure to check TM30 compliance when you apply for an extension of stay, and you risk that your application is denied when there is no TM30 on file of the place where you are currently residing.

Note 1: If your mother stays in a Hotel at the time when she goes for her extension of stay, the Hotel should have filed a TM30 of her staying there.  But if she stays at your place, the owner of the place (you?) should file a TM30 otherwise she risks that her extension of stay is denied.

Note 2: If no TM30 is filed and still her extension of stay is approved, you are simply lucky that your provincial IO does not strictly adhere to the book.

If you know that she is not in compliance with a current TM30 file being filed, you could bring a copy of the house-book and a front-cover copy of the ID-card of the owner with you, in order to do the TM30 on the spot.  But you need to be prepared that she can be fined for not being in compliance.

It looks like she's getting a 60 day visa, after 60 days i'll go out the country for a few days with her, maybe to VN or Laos, then come back on a 30 day visa exempt for her.

There will be no application for extension of stay.

Thanks.

Ok, that have probably been changeing. However, you are saying that your mother comes for a visit. You are also talking about 60 days and extension of 30 as well as another exempt entry on 30 days. That would be 120 days.

An SETV, that do not have the high financial requirements would give 60 + 30, and your mother would only have to make one exempt entry on another 30 days. That would be the better choice.
