Prayut meets Thai expats in New York

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha met Thai expatriates in New York Sunday afternoon US time. 

 

Prayut and his entourage, including Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, arrived at the Plaza Athenee Hotel on the 64thstreet between the Park and Madison avenues at 12.15pm local time.

 

Prayut was welcomed by Nipon Phetpornprapass, the Thai consul for New York, and some 50 Thai officials and expats living in New York and other nearby states nearby. The expats greeted the Thai prime minister with shouts when he arrived in front of the hotel.

 

Then at 3.30 pm, Prayut met some 150 Thai expats in a hall of the hotel.

 

The prime minister is scheduled to attend the 74th United Nations General Assembly and other international meetings this week.

Complaining about TM30 reports etc and the prevention of foreigners buying property no doubt.

Yeah but what were the Thai expats  shouting, I  know a  few and it certainly wouldn't be praise.

Good time to travel to the US. He can really gets some good deals with the baht being sooo strong.

God forbid if he brings back any foreign ideas, the army chief will not be impressed!

And are all these THAI expats also USA citizens or have PR? I bet they are or have as is easy in the USA. And I would bet the ones shouting out were official participants to do so. I have never spoke to any THAI in the USA yet that has approval for him.

Probably his own entourage of loyal buttlickers. Not a single Thai I know who has spent time outside would give him the time of the day.

I remember reading an article and seeing photos of Thai expats (whom are probably US citizens) doing a demonstration AGAINST Prayut during a previous visit.  And it was a lot bigger than a dozen people.  Does anyone remember when Prayut attended a UN convention had his assistant ask Obama for a photograph and he declined?  They basically begged and Obama did it on the condition that it would not be published as an official photo, but they published it along with a press statement anyway?  And on another trip, or maybe the same one, The Thai government claimed that Obama praised Prayut and said America had faith and respect for all the coup leader clinging to power was doing...then the US had to release a statement saying no one ever said that, on the contrary, they said they had significant worries and were very concerned about democracy in Thailand.  Maybe it was the entire UN.  Now we have this lady holding this ridiculous sign "We believe in our PM", with a few Asian Americans holding Thai flags behind a barrier?  LMFAO

I wonder if the staff of the nearest Thai Consulate/Embassy were told 'turn out with silly placards, or find yourself heading home from your cushy, nepotism-gained, overseas posts?'

What was the occasion? Going to meet Donald? probably not a bad idea all things considered.

Make sure to scan his bags when he gets back to BKK.

Do US immigration track your movement,

must have you report address several times per year,

also report to immigrations within 24 hours every time if stay away from house for more than 1 night?

I am guessing they are either staff, or families of staff who work in the Thai Embassy there who were told to go.

I think it would be great if he did bring back some good ideas and observations. They could set up lots of committees to study them.

** Observation of garbage pickup/availability of trash bins on streets.

** Take a road trip to some East Coast beaches and see the cleanliness.

** While on road trip, observe the proactive policing in effect on the roads.

** Visit U.S. Department of Commerce. The Department of Commerce works with businesses, universities, communities, and the Nation’s workers to promote job creation, economic growth, sustainable development, and improved standards of living for Americans. (thanks Google).

** Visit the FBI and see how "real" investigative work is performed.

** Observe how many motorcycle riders in New York State wear helmets. Inquire what the penalty is if caught without.

 

Feel free to add more suggestions to make his trip worth while.

She actually wrote We Belive…..so she could have been educated in New York or she could have been educated in Thailand.
