Featured Replies

Dear Prime Minister, it all begins with a descent education and the willingness to do your work accurately in order to become “high income” country (not only for the elite).

  • It's already pretty good for generals.

  • I wonder how they can say such things with a straight face ????

  • I just hope none of the attendees swallowed any of those straight up lies. It is actually disgusting that he is even given a platform at international events having come to power the way he has (

Prime Minister said that, during the past five years, his government has set the foundations needed to drive the country forward with the objective of making Thailand a high-income country, in which all Thai people will share equally in the fruits of development and none will be left behind.

He told the audience about what the previous government, also under his leadership, had done to improve the livelihoods of the majority of the Thai people, to reduce social and economic disparity,

Really... with the strong baht still going up tourists going elsewhere which will hit the GDP hard, exports on the way down with companies cutting back on labour, many producers are feeling the pinch and demanding subsidies?

He paints a very different picture to reality!

Seems an entirely achievable objective. Certainly not a Singapore but well up with the other members of the ASEAN pack. In spite of setbacks (e.g. the rail projects) the infrastructure is improving fast and the industrial sector is doing well.

The photo says it all.  The interviewer appears to be avoiding eye contact and struggling not to burst out in laughter and Prayut is looking at him like, "I'm totally serious."

i'd say trump and prayut might be up to attending a round or two of ping pong.

It seems that the mainstream media have done a good job. So, why do you think that Trump is not fulfilling his promises? There is no US president who survives in this extremely hostile political environment where the opposition and the media are daily trying to sabotage the president's projects. Have you ever thought why the political friends of the Democrat are never charged or convicted for their criminal acts? You have to be quite ignorant and / or conformist to understand Trump as a culprit rather than a victim.

What a horrible post!

Should we assume, that the poster is Thai?

Maybe we should ask him, WHY the status quo is, as he described it?

Ask him, why in this country, men can father children left and right and never take responsibility?

Ask him, why there is no real meaningful mother & child support in this country, that often leaves the women with little other choice, than become a "lady of the night", to support her child(ren)?

Ask him, why there is no meaningful support for seniors, so the daughters have to "work bar", to feed the whole family?

Ask him, what would happen to Thailand, if all "farang" would suddenly stop, to support whole family- constructs with their money?

What ridiculous person!

I needed a good laugh today...

What the heck has he been smokin' ???

High income, low iq. That will work!

Why not just state the facts of a possible ecconomic collapse.

I must tell my neighbours in the village, on about 2000-3000 baht/month. I'm sure they will be thrilled.

"PM Prayut says Thailand aiming to become a high income country in 17 years"

...he is right, it even will be a very high income country for the top one percent.

This gives a new meaning to "saving face"

Thailand has already High end salaries or wealth,  Start at the top, and that's where it ends.

No foundations have been laid. Until you get a less corrupt police force and government, but most importantly, AN EDUCATION SYSTEM FIT FOR PURPOSE, nothing will really happen. The education system produces automatons unable to think laterally who are designed to obey and respect authority rather than speak their minds and come up with novel solutions.

Until grengjai is swept aside, there really is not much hope of Thailand avoiding "the Middle income trap".

Sure set the foundation for an Democratic country

And.

Exactly how is this 17 year plan to be implemented.

Many international companies are paying relatively good salaries and fringe benefits already.

Increased wages are supported by increasing productivity and sales values for the product.

Which means increased salaries are required.

Disposable income is what it's all about..

The amazing thing is ... nowhere in the article is it mentioned to improve the education system for the people, for the kids to be able to be more successful in future and get to higher incomes in 17 years from now.

I’m sure Isaan is not part of this project..  When Issan people have to work like slaves on Bangkok constructions sites !

What a pile of bull.hit!

In 50 years Thailand will have a man or woman on the moon! And will be suffering drought and the effects of climate change.

He has the audacity to make these statements in the USA where Thai people are free having no 90 day check in, no TM28 or TM30, no request to draw a map to their house, and are able to become citizens or residents very very easy. He needs to redo the system and try to be a good person rather than what the it is on the superficial surface..

What has this to do with Thais having a high(er) income? Topic high-jack.

my post about the two attending a round of ping pong eluded to a "boys night out" nothing to do with politics

But then a while back he did tell some school kids that Thai may become a international language .

You know, like English.
