Does anybody NE Region have contact details for Nong Khai Immigration. I'm particularly intersted if they will provide Affidavit for Alien Resident for the purpose of applying for a Thai driving licence. If anybody has any knowledge, or experience of what is required, etc, it would be gratefully appreciated.

To get a certificate of residence from immigration for a Thai driving license, I think you need to go in person to the immigration office and apply. Ihave a 1 year extension for retirement and my immigration office in Nan gave me the certificate on the spot (needs 2 fotos and application form) free of charge. It is mentionned on the certificate the purpose (Thai driving license)

I was there about 2 years ago and wanted such a certification letter of my address in Thaiand for a driver licence.

Two nice and friendly employees filled out all the forms. There would be no cost. Everything seamed easy, but finally they needed the signature of their boss and he refused my request.

He was very polite but made it clear: he would give me this letter (which states my address in Thailand) only if I would stay here with one-year extensions of my permission to stay in Thailand.

I was refused because I used a Nonimigraant-O multiple entry visa and made a visa run after 3 month instead of an extension. Hence I still use my international driving licence here in Thailand.

I heard other people had other experiances in other places. It way depend on who you meet at the immigration.
