MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) - The United Kingdom can leave the European Union on Oct. 31 without a deal despite a law which demands the prime minister ask for a Brexit delay if there is no agreement, finance minister Sajid Javid said on Monday.

When asked if a no deal was possible, Javid told the BBC: “Yes it is. It’s not our preferred outcome. We are working incredibly hard to get a deal by October 31.”

“But if we do not manage to do that, we do still need to leave the EU on that date - we cannot have any more dither and delay, and we will leave if we have to, without a deal, on October 31,” Javid said. He said he thought he knew how that was possible given the law.

Do you follow the news?

Because if you follow the news then you should have seen lots of interviews with top EU politicians over the last weeks who confirm there is no (written) suggestion from the UK government for any new deal.

If Boris would have an idea why shouldn't he publish it? He has to discuss it with the EU anyhow to get their agreement. And of course he needs the vote from the UK parliament. How does he convince them all to vote for something unknown? It won't happen.

Are the UK and the EU still in negations about a deal, or is there no dialogue at all between the two ?

Of course they talk to each other. But talking with each other every couple of days is something very different than "We are working incredibly hard to get a deal by October 31." That's a lie!

From the 27th September: Brexit talks close in acrimony with EU saying UK 'solely' to blame

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/27/no-deal-brexit-fault-uk-government-alone-juncker-eu

Just one little part of that article:

"Berlin has privately described the papers so far put forward as “completely insufficient”, according to a leaked diplomatic note of a recent meeting of ambassadors in Brussels, seen by the Guardian."

And there are many more articles like that all over the news.

There is a difference between (not) working hard and negotiating and giving in to your requirement .

The Uk Gov may be working hard in their negotiations  whilst at the same time , not giving in to EU demands

And I thought many Tories didn't vote for the deal which May agreed with the EU.

The UK could be out of the EU since March...

Or the Tories could have replaced May years ago.

But yeah, it's so much easier to blame someone for all those things.

I follow every day at news from several independent UK and EU media.

Sorry the Sun is not on that list. I guess that is where your "knowledge" comes from.

That was because Mays deal was in name only and thus Brexiteers voted against it

Save yourself the effort Javid. The EU believe they have got the upper had, due to the Remainers in UK fighting the EU’s corner for them.
Get us out No Deal, then invite the EU for Trade Deals only.

May agreed nothing, she had no such authority, she was the main negotiator on behalf of the British government.

Parliament did not like her deal and voted against on 3 occasions.

He knows a lot more than you.

Listening to him on the radio this morning he said [quot] "in 2010 When we first came back to office, we were absolutely economically on our knees, we were the laughing stock of Europe then..." so what are we now, the Tories have now made us the basket case of Europe...

As for him quoting our economy is better now... The pound has dropped to below $1.090 this month from 1.435 in July 2015.

Best quote to day came from Google who wrote to me saying "We are writing to inform you that, due to the possibility of the UK leaving the EU and incorporating an amended version of the GDPR into UK law, we will be updating:..." ????

Indeed, the government knows only broadly what the outline of a deal might look like:

you really ought to compare against a more stable currency...

but if you want to compare it ,In July 2015 the Thai Baht peeked at over 54 to below 37...

After Brexit, the UK will probably step by step have to take over european legislation in exchange for accessing part of the EU's single market but without having its say on it -

and that's what will be branded as " regaining  sovereignty" to brexiters, and everyone will be happy.

It is already said by many E.U. leaders and specially by Barnier and Iris side , that after a no deal Brexit all the same topics come on the table to negotiate again…. so it is not finished even after Brexit ...
