It isn't YOUR money, you pay taxes to the treasury, it is ThEIR money, the government does what it likes with it, they can build aircraft carriers to punch above their weight, build nuclear submarines, order F35's but can't supply enough affordable housing, up yours Mr Bloggs, the government isn't interested.
