I am going to the Phuket immigration to apply for a retirement one year visa for my Mom, the regulations say that You can apply for one year retirement visa When more than 2 months have passed on the 90 day visa , one of the requested document is a Letter from Bank stating 800,000+ (which has been in place more than 3 months) , She arrive 60 days ago and so She just open her bank account ( and deposit the 800,000 ) two months ago , how is possible to have a letter stating that the money is in the bank 3 months before ? Thanks in advance to anyone will help me to understand !

The letter only provides the account balance. The passbook must show the money has been in the account for 3 months. Unless immigration makes an exception she should leave Thailand and apply for another visa, and if she shows the bank account book she can probably obtain a non immigrant type (but even a tourist visa can work with an extra step). Then after she meets the 3 month requirement she can extend her stay for retirement.

Unless a kind-hearted Immigration official gives your mother the annual extension of stay for retirement without the money having been in the bank for at least three months, she has to

1. do a border run and re-enter Thailand on a visa-exempt 30-day entry stamp, if her nationality (which you did not mention) entitles her to it

2. at the Immigration office, apply for change of visa status to non-O (fee 2,000 Baht); this gives her permission to stay for another 90 days

3. when the three months have been reached, apply for the annual extension of stay

You do not mention your own visa status, respectively status of permission to stay. If you are in Thailand on an annual extension of stay your mother may well be entitled to her extension as your dependant, without any need for her to show evidence of money in the bank.

I've heard stories from Pattaya ( friendly immigration folk ) that they will

give you the extension on the basis that you return in a month or so and

show that you still have the money in the bank.

i.e. ... you were not trying to diddle the system.

Naka.
