So lets do some simple maths...1.2 trillion baht in revenue from 30 million arrivals. Meaning on average 46000 per arrival, according to their own figures.

 

I am one of those white western over 50s the authorities are clearly attempting to drive out with their ever nastier, more unreasonable, ever more inconvenient, time consuming, intrusive, abusive and now expensive visa extension procedures, added to which there is always the risk of being randomly denied entry and detained at the airport.

 

I spend about 8 months per year in Thailand and spend about 150000 baht per month while in the country. So, when they succeed in driving me away completely....the new mandatory insurance requirement is the final nail in the coffin...im now done...they will need 30 visitors from China to make up for my lost revenue.

 

Does that makes any sense? Only to a racist, xenophobic small minded pig.

My wife works in a Thai European food shop and the Swiss and Norwegians and Germans are not coming back.

All the statistics are made to hide the truth, they are then also made by the organizations themselves.

Tourism numbers are going up, but income is dropping precipitously, as the quality of tourist is a pale shadow of what the nation used to see, even 5 years ago. Ask anyone in the tourism industry, and they all say the same thing. Income is way, way down. People who are coming here are not spending much, unless you are a 7/11, or a Tesco.

 

Millions of Thais who are in the tourism industry, are badly hurting, from years of awful policy on the part of the TAT, Prayuth, and the tourism ministry. An astonishing level of incompetence is haunting this nation.

How can businesses make plans with information such as this?

 

Reports like this would have stores stock their shelves with more product and raise prices in preparation for the good time to come.

The tourism ministry and TAT continue challenge each other, to see who can stuff their heads further up where there is no daylight. A fiercely intense competition, this. Literally a matter of face-saving.

Just returned from BKK Samsen Bamglumphu area I used to work there many years ago it was heaving daily with tourist backpackers

Last weekend almost empty, spoke to Friends (Thai who still had business around there) restaurants , hotel,Inbound tour operator

Basically worst season in memory and not  much hope for "high season"

Not much need for stats to prove  a point there

I am sure there are plenty of Farang bar and guest house owners

who are on the Thai Visa daily news  forum

who could provide some up to date numbers on how their businesses are doing in Pattaya ,Hua Hin for example

get a update idea on how things are here in Thailand tourist wise prospective

With business you must do for the customer who come, not the customer you like to come. 

Business must change, or will fail.
