Its years since I exited a moggy so things may have changed. All they told me was they wanted a vaccination certificate. Got one but they never asked for it at the airport.

Consider requirements of the country you are going to as well.

Carry cat onboard with you, NOT checked in as cargo (many do not survive the trip as maybe no oxygen and or freezing minus 60 degree conditions in cargo hold).

Check size of carrying box allowed, every airline is different.

(Note:- Moggies do not like to move house. On arrival at destination, keep cat indoors a few days or it may wander off looking for its old home and get lost.)

Hmm. Neither lists microchip. Both say passport, but one says "owner's passport", the other doesn't hint either way.

This is why I'm looking for official Thai link. It's all very confusing because all the blogs and information sites having different info.

Thailand does not require a microchip but some countries do and Thailand will require that you meet the requirements of the country you are travelling to.

From Thai side all you need is an export permit and health certificate but Animal Quarantine, which issues these, will not provide them if you do not meet the requirements of the country you are going to (which they know in detail).

Perhaps they mean they can arrange to get a Healyh Certificate from govt Animal Quarsntine station as that is the only certificate airline will accept. Hopefully they will also get you an export permit as you need that too.

Thanks for everyone's replies! as far as I know, America requires nothing other than that the animal doesn't look diseased.

The recent vaccinations I got are on a card that say "pet passport".

I won't worry about the microchip too much then. Though may do it just to do it, assuming price is right.

So I got FHV/Calicivirus/FPV and Rabigen mono/Rabies vaccinations, but NOT Leukemia, Feline Immuno Virus, nor Chlamydophila felis...(the vet just showed up and only gave those). Is it okay for the health certificate? I seem to recall only the rabies is required but not sure...

Only rabies required.

But of course your cat should have full vaccination fir her own protection.

I have brought cats to the US. Only in Hawaii is there quarantine. On the mainland proof of rabies vaccine is enough. Which is also all that Thailand requires to issue the health cert and export permit.

Make sure to choose a carrier that allows pet in the cabin, safer and less stressful for the cat. They limit the number per flight so book in advance.

@sheryl

Okay, so just the health certificate from the quarantine, correct? I mean, I don't need one from an independent vet, correct?

I'm also confused about when to bring the cat to quarantine... My flight leaves on the 16th... So I bring him there on the 13th? 14th? So strange, this 3 day thing.

you need a health cert. from local vet

you need to take cat and cert to sawannaphun free zone not more than 3 days before departing.

animal control at the free zone will check docs and for chip, is a chip required im not certain.

you need 4 vaccines --required by thai animal control and or airline policies.

every time I took my cat in or out the chip was checked

I cheked this out some time ago when I was thinking of returning my cat to the UK.  She needed:

Chip

Vaccination of normal annual booster, plus up to date rabbis injections

Blood test prior to last rabbis shot showing no rabbis virus

repeat blood test 21 days later showing negative results

vets certificate stating she was healthy and free of disease.

import certificate from UK

Its a bit more involved than this short, incomplete  list but you can read it for yourself on the link

https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad

Others have told you about the Thai end, so not included here

Maybe the chip was checked because you had a chip and documentation for the chip? According to Sheryl and any official information, there is nothing about a chip requirement. USA certainly does not require. But if you have any official links stating otherwise would love to see.

Also regarding 4 vaccines, as far as I've seen, officially only need rabies. Again, official link would be appreciated if have something that says otherwise...

Health certificate comes from BKK quarantine according to Sheryl.

As of 2017 (more or less), microchip is definitely required for export or import of a cat. Someone from BKK animal quarantine took my cat from there to be chipped. Hour later he was back. Cost 800B
