3rd Passport, Birth Certificate?

Featured Replies

I've tried looking online for this info, and yes you need a birth certificate and a copy of it for your first UK passport, but do you need one for passports after that? I've renewed mine before and it was some years ago so I cannot remember now if I needed it or not

i am sure the old one is enough to get a new one, at least for my country..

A birth certificate is not required to renew a passport. Only the first one requires it.

Had 3 from BKK - the old PP is sufficient

Not needed for renewals.

No problem - just get a new one . No need for a police report. That is only required for a stolen passport.

So I can turn up to the appointment at the embassy without my birth certificate or any Photo ID? I have a Thai bank book, ATM card, and some documents with my name on it relating to bills, that's all

No the embassy has nothing to do with passports anymore - look at Gov.uk and click passports and follow the instructions.

I've done all that, I have an appointment booked on the 11th. Consulate, Embassy, whatever. I just need to know if I need photo ID and or my birth certificate, which I cannot find on their site. I know you do for a first passport but not a 3rd (birth certificate)

Do you have an appointment with VFS at the Trendy building. If yes you have been wasting our time. What you need is clearly stated on the Gov.uk website.

Yes, you need photo ID; no, you do not need your birth certificate.  It's all listed on the British Embassy's website...
