North Korea arms Russia with 100+ missiles as fears grow for Ukraine

Russia has received more than 100 additional ballistic missiles from North Korea, raising fresh fears that Moscow is preparing to intensify its bombardment of Ukraine without exhausting its own weapons stockpile.

The latest assessment warns the influx of North Korean missiles could fuel more devastating strikes on civilian areas, while giving Pyongyang a battlefield testing ground to improve its own missile technology.

Fresh Missile Unit Deployed Inside Russia

According to Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, North Korea has begun deploying a missile unit in western Russia. The force is believed to consist of around 90 personnel operating six launchers and roughly 120 ballistic missiles in Russia's Voronezh region.

The deployment follows an earlier shipment of 40 KN-23 and KN-24 ballistic missiles, marking a significant expansion of military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.

ISW Warns of Escalating Threat

The Institute for the Study of War says the new deliveries could allow Russia to step up ballistic missile attacks without relying heavily on its own reserves.

Analysts believe Moscow and Pyongyang are exploiting Ukraine's limited supply of ballistic missile interceptors, enabling North Korea to test its weapons in combat while gathering valuable operational data. The experience could accelerate improvements to Pyongyang's missile programme.

Civilian Toll Set to Rise

The report warns North Korean missiles carry larger warheads than many comparable systems, despite being less accurate. That combination increases the risk of widespread destruction and higher civilian casualties as Russia expands its long-range strikes.

For Ukraine, the growing stockpile presents another challenge as air defence systems remain under sustained pressure after months of intensive missile attacks.

Deadly Strike Highlights Growing Danger

Ukrainian officials say evidence of North Korean missiles has already emerged on the battlefield. Reuters reported that Ukrainian radar detected signatures consistent with KN-23 or KN-24 missiles during an attack on the village of Radushne near Kryvyi Rih.

The strike destroyed the home of a large family, killing a husband, wife and their seven children. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of joining forces with North Korea's "mad" regime to wage war and kill Ukrainian children.

Kyiv Signals Tough Response

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has declared that any North Korean missile units operating on Russian territory would be regarded as legitimate military targets.

As military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang deepen, analysts warn the partnership is reshaping the battlefield, increasing pressure on Ukraine's already stretched air defences and raising the prospect of even deadlier missile campaigns in the months ahead.

Great news! Vlad supporters are grateful to Kim not only for his help with the missiles, but also for his conviction in Moscow's rightness and his categorical rejection of fascism.
