Rimmer
More tourists, less litter this Loy Krathong PATTAYA:-- Volunteers joined Pattaya sanitation workers in cleaning up the mess left behind from Loy Krathong. People spread out across the beach, picking up plastic bags, food containers and krathongs that washed back to shore Nov. 12. Trash collectors said there was less litter than in previous years despite an increase in tourists. Part of that was due to an increased number of garbage cans placed by city hall while part was the high-profile push to use natural materials in krathongs and for food sellers to not use foam boxes. I don´t think so. I have never been in a country with so few garbage cans.

Oh, that´s the reason why they are used a lot if I find one. Also in non-tourist areas.

Did they found any cigarette butts? If so, they could make millions if they'd put up some CCTV surveillance on the beach..
phantomfiddler
Maybe more tourists, but a great reduction in Thai nationals getting dressed up in the finery to float off their Krathong ???? Years ago there were 10,000 such people along Beach Road, but sadly tradition is dying at an alarming rate.
kingofthemountain
i was on Pattaya beach for Loy krathong night More tourists? i don't think so, 80% was thais there was around 5\6000 people on the beach basically most of them was here for the free concert given by Carabao. Less litter? True, it was not a disaster, essentialy because few trash collectors was hanging around the people with big pockets collecting the aluminums cans, glass bottles (All the things they can sell later)
