Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Saturday (November 16) that the high-pressure ridge covering upper Thailand is weakening, leading to a rise in daytime temperature of 1-2 °C but remaining cool and misty in the morning.

The moderate northeast monsoon across the Gulf and the South, meanwhile, will bring heavy rain to the South with wind whipping up the waves up to about 2 metres high in the lower Gulf and above 2 metres during storms. Ships should proceed with caution.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool weather and mist in the morning; temperature lows of 19-22 degrees and highs of 31-33 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 8-12 degrees on hilltops.

Northeastern region: Cool weather in the morning; lows 18-22 degrees, highs 28-33 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 9-12 degrees on hilltops.

Eastern region: Cool weather and mist in the morning; lows 21-25 degrees, highs 32-35 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 22-26 degrees, high 30-33 degrees Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 30 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 32-34 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.
