Wi-Fi repeater extender.

3BB have demonstrated a D-Link repeater that has increased my signal strength from 3 bars to 5 bars.
The version they used was with a LAN cable.

I cannot use a LAN cable, so I am now looking to purchased a Wi-Fi model version, that I believe is also referred to as an extender.

I would be most grateful to hear from those that have purchased such a product, and what's more had a successful result.

I have had a TP Link extender for years, plugs into a mains socket in the bedroom. Works fine but is only 2.4 GHz band so will look to replace with a dual band one soon.

you have several options available, from creating a wireless bridge from an old router or simply purchasing an access point. I have managed some time ago after much trial and horror to convert a huawei router to a wireless bridge which was reasonably successful. with the improvement in technology I now utilise a zyxel access point which is fairly simple to set up and has resolved my poor signal issues. Depending on your circumstance there are quite a few options available. I have attache a link to lazada which may help!

LAN cable IMHO is the only choice.  Does not have to be a dedicated extender (I use an old phone router with wifi and works fine).  It just has to be in a better position for computers you want to use.  I bought a WiFi fed model but with that you have the loss of the original modem to it plus the WiFi to computer.  I suspect for some it works but for me the signal was too degraded.  The old LAN/phone modem was/is much better.  Sometimes you can find ways to feed a lan cable that are not obvious.

I have just read the following, which of course makes sense:

The first kind are WiFi repeaters. These are sometimes called extenders. They work reasonably simply: you plug in a repeater and it will pick up the WiFi signal from your router, copy it, and rebroadcast it to new corners of your house. A repeater can only repeat the signal it receives; if it is receiving a weak signal it can only rebroadcast a weak signal.

Looks like I will have to run a LAN cable after all.
