webfact
Within – and on – these walls By The Nation Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station in Pathum Thani province has drawn praise from netizens after posting a picture of paintings on the prison’s walls along with small trees and small water fountains to help prisoners relax. Pol.Lt.Col. Theerayuth Suttisonpisan, Deputy Superintendent of the station, said that he has seen various signs of stress among prisoners especially in those who had committed what he said were accidental crimes, and that he was trying to make them feel more comfortable. He started by adding small trees and small water fountains in the cells but found it did little to improve the mood. Inspired by temple murals, he sought help from students of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi to paint the prison cells’ walls. They also wrote “This Too Shall Pass” on the walls to encourage the prisoners.
