Tourist Visa, Visa Runs

Featured Replies

Big question! I live in Chiang mai and have done the visa run to Mesai 3 times. (I have a tourist visa) I know that I cant go to Mesai again but can I go to any other country, like Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore? And do I get 30 days or 60 days?

Please ease my confused brain and tell me what to do :o

If you can't go to Mai Sai again you do not have tourist visas but have entered on visa exempt entry and have used up your 90 days per six month quota. A person can visit a Consulate or Embassy in Laos, Malaysia or Singapore to easily obtain a tourist visa, which for most nationalities provides a 60 day stay.

is it possible to go to Cambodia? will that work too?

Other than Burma that would be my last choice for any kind of visa.

Why? And what do you recommend? I have bought a ticket to bangkok but dont know where to go ater that? Do I just have to cross the border or do I have to go to a Thai ambassy? I dont have that much money so where is the cheapest place to go? Penang?Laos?

Because they have often told people not to return and in some cases have just said no. Singapore and Malaysia have discount airline service and no visa change for most nationalities.

To obtain a tourist visa you must visit a Consulate and apply one morning and receive next workday afternoon at most locations. That would permit a 60 day entry that could be extended 30 days.

Visa entry requires that you (single person) have 20k baht or equivalent in your possession on entry if they decide to check (very rarely done in the past).
