No not THAT!

My Lower Back.

Had all sorts of treatments without success.

But now I take a 60mg tablet called Ancoxia once a day and I am pain free, and flexible, for the first time for ages. Not a cure I know, but what a relief!

So if you suffer with Lower Back, or any other similar Pain, do give it a try. It's not expensive.

Have you had, or do you now have a regular systematic exercise program which includes stretching the back and strengthening the stomach muscles?

Ancoxia

You probably mean Arcoxia (etoricoxib), a variant of Vioxx (rofecoxib), which its manufacturer, MSD (Merck & Co.), withdrew worldwide because of concerns over severe side-effects.

Arcoxia is not yet available in the USA but

ARCOXIA has been under review by the FDA as an investigational selective COX-2 inhibitor since the original NDA was submitted in December 2003 and is currently available in 62 countries in Europe, Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region and Middle East/Northern Africa.

How Rude! :o

I know, KratinDaeng, we're on touchy ground, here. Frankly, why I'm asking, is that I had severe lower back pain in my early 30's. In my opinion, a result of a high-stress job, and no exercise. A few weeks of immobility got my attention, and I started a regular daily work-out routine of stretching the back muscles and strengthening the stomach muscles. In a few weeks, the pain and all soreness disappeared. I'm now approaching 60 years old in a few short years, and I have been back-pain-free all the years since. Of course, it requires a continued one-hour-a-day stretching and muscle-tone-improvement routine, which has become part of my daily regimen as much as brushing my teeth.

If course there are degenerative lower spinal conditions which certainly may be unrelated to my self-diagnosis, but just curious if the OP might have had a similar scenario as mine.

Just kiddin Toptuna! Are you sure you can put that lower back pain down to a combo of high stress job and no excercise, or do you really mean to say that you first came to Thailand in your early 30's and did ya back in from too much 'foolin with the ladies of the night'! 55555! Only kiddin mate, time for a beer.

KD :D

Not on your life!

However, certain forms of exercise in a popular horizontal position DO also strengthen the back muscles and stretch those stomach muscles too. Maybe our OP just needed a little more of that kind. :o

Yeah, KD, you're on even touchier ground! Two beers for me. One for you! :D

Have you tried sleeping on your side with a long Thai pillow between your knees? Did wonders for me, can`t sleep without it now.

Do you mean a bolster pillow? also commonly called a Dutch Pillow?

However ... exercise and a good mattress usually helps most folks! If not then a GOOD chiropractor would be in order :o

try norgesic for lower back pain

Care needed with all anti-inflamatory drugs, stomach ulcers can result, Brufen and Vioxx prime examples.

No idea what those are...

The Thai pillow I'm talking about is sausage shaped, about a meter long.

Its also called a bolster pillow, yes, same thing.

NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-imflammatories) can cause ulcers if not taken correctly (you must take them with food) . I have sciatica and unknowingly popped ibuprofen for several years to help the pain. The first clue was the acid reflux and heartburn when eating fried foods :o

Vioxx and its derivatives (as well as Celebrex) don't give the same stomach issues as NSAIDS but do have their own problems.

I'm afraid sleeping with something that size and shape between my legs would give me pretty vivid dreams. :o

Yes, also called a "Dutch Wife", I am not sure why. It does wonders for me too.

Have you considered a new mattress?

Seriously.

The lower priced Thai mattresses are seriously <deleted>. Mine was brand new 2 years ago and its worn out already. I only weigh 75 kilos but even that has completely trashed it. And i've turned it over and top-and-tailed it too.

I know its shagged out because i'm waking up stiff in the morning too. You often dont notice cos the mattress degrades slowly over a period of time.

Try to buy the best mattress you can afford.

I did this in the UK some years back and spent the eq. of 30,000 baht on the mattress - direct from the manufacturer. I woke up the next day completely renewed. Best money i EVER spent.

I follow the same regime and it has helped me tremendously!

Hurrah! My back is SO much better now......Only took Ancoxia for a few days.

It is said to have some undesirable side effects but I experienced none of them, I am pleased to report. I suffered for over a year. Had Massage etc all to no effect.

Ancoxia was the best 500bht I have ever spent.

Used to have a bad back for a few years until I moved to LOS and started sleeping on a rock hard traditional Thai matress, with a bolster pillow as well and the pain vanished almost immediately.....

Stay off them ...... seriously

Update! Ancoxia did the trick! No Lumbago now. And to think I put up with it for almost two years and my Quack in the UK said after his many treatments failed to work "You will have to live with it"

Why it's been banned in the US but nowhere else is interesting.......

Foam matresses are cheap, 1000 baht, and very firm and good for the back. Thais tend to look down on them and laugh but I even converted the girlfriend to their joys.

Get a book called Callenetics, it has a dozen great stretching exercises that provide amazing relief from back pain. I was in agony for weeks after lifting cement bags but you could actually feel the stress easing out of your spine when doing the exercises. I did them daily for a while but once a week seems more than sufficient after the pain has gone. I sometimes forget for a few weeks and get the odd twinge and do them for a few days just to be sure.

BTW my wonderful UK NHS doctor told me to go swimming to sort it out!
