Since the end of WW2 they have been invaded by the French, the USA and the Chinese. They are still there and still in charge of Vietnam.

In addition, France did not "invade" Vietnam after the 2nd world war but about one hundred years ago;
the French Indochine exists (existed) since October 17, 1887 ...

As for the Chinese, it has been more than two thousand years that they try to invade Vietnam without ever getting there.

Absolutely correct up to a point. Your post made me look it up and check if I was right. I wasn't totally.

 

I did forget that Japan took over French IndoChina to give its proper name in 1942 to 1945 ( it was run by Vichy France until March 1945) and when the allies won WW2 the French got it back only to lose it all again.
