Thai police unveil the answer to the New Year carnage: The Dummy Car

The highway police have come up with a cunning way to limit the carnage on the Thai roads this coming New Year. 

 

The Dummy Car. 

 

It is a cut out that when seen from afar resembles a real patrol car with all its colors and insignia.  

 

To complete the illusion that the police are actually doing their job comes a flashing light. 

 

This is connected to a technological device called a battery.

Deputy commander of the Highway Police Pol Col Ekkarat Limsangkart said the cars would make people slow down and give those thinking of having a snooze behind the wheel the necessary jolt. 

 

Sponsored by a private company the Dummy Cars will be sited at forty accident blackspots nationwide. 

 

JS100.com published pictures of the cars at places such as Pahonyothin Road inbound to Bangkok and Trang in the south.

It is believed that the policemen pictured with the dummies were in fact real. 

 

Pol Col Ekkarat said that the dummies (the cars) were used by police forces all round the world. 

 

It was one of a number of measures to stop accidents during the New Year period, he said. 

 

Thaivisa notes that for years "dummy policemen" or "jaa choey" have been stationed throughout the kingdom but the cars now represent an upgrade.

Perhaps, but they also use their real police forces for traffic surveillance.

What the Thai police want you to see with the red car and what the Thai drivers Brain sees are two very different and dangerous things !

If only we could get some of the nitwits to actually get out, and patrol the highways, that would be far more of a deterrent than a cardboard car poster. Besides, nobody cares about a cop car on the side of he road here. There is no fear of the LPF (local police franchisees). They are an utterly powerless and impotent force.

I needed cheering up. Nothing better than a slice of humour to brighten the day. 

So this ingenious idea came about so the boys could spend time at their Karaoke bars instead of actually being on the road, in their cars with radar on.

Wonder why they have not thought of mobilizing real police cars and real motorbike patrols and getting them out on the road instead sitting at stationary checkpoints waiting for transgressors to come to them ????

Let's see how long till someone rams into that due to micro-whatever..

Must have overspent the budget on all those huge vinyl noticeboards they are in love with, that are shown daily on TV! So no real police just cut outs, well at least they will have one narrative.

Right now the police is driving around while every vehicle is breaking the law right in from of them. Regularly at intersections I see the police on their bikes, helmet on but not strapped with riders no wearing helmets, when the lights changes the police is in much a hurry as the rest.

 

Now I ask what is going to protect the dummy car better put up some protective barriers?  where will the dummy who came up with this idea in a nearby A/C bunker?  ????‍✈️????

This fine article thrills me to the limit (Maybe past the limit?) and it dovetails well with the mirth and merriment dished out by those other great institutions like TOT and the orifice of the Primed Minister.
