Good idea, publish the fact so that we know we don't have to take any notice of them

  • Well  we  have the  dummy  police  officers and govt so why  not

  • It is believed that the policemen pictured with the dummies were in fact real Dummies.

  • "To complete the illusion that the police are actually doing their job"   Like they do all year round ?  ????????????

tell everybody now  and the drivers will not pay any attention anyway before and after.waiting to see the numbers for the new year same or just higher

How about a dummy,    gogo dancer in bikini ? I would slow down for a look at different ones!!!

I realize that what I’m about to suggest here might be a real stretch and perhaps far too much for most Thai’s to fathom, but how about using “real” police cars with “real” police officers...???

As a Canadian expat living in Phuket for over the past 20 years, I have NEVER seen a police car out on patrol anywhere in T’land.

Of course the response is going to be manned by dummy police.

Why not train the officers and have them do a real job, instead of thinking about ways to get rich from the public.

only in thailand?

Dummy Car?

This is wayyyyyyyyyy too easy!

Making jokes shouldn't be like shooting fish in a barrel!

Obviously thought up by dummies to try and stop the dummies that cannot drive

Perhaps announcing it was not the way forward.

A patrol car hovering 30 cm above the road does seem convincing though.

I hope I read next week from the BiB that someone stole the cardboard cutout. Imagine them going in a pickup to pick it up to find its been nicked.

One of the first moves to bring any credibility into the law enforcement system is REMOVE all other flashing lights from non emergency vehicles.

That is the first step in a mentality approach.

All other countries where you see flashing lights triggers an immediate response to slow down.

In Thailand it could be a somtam seller on the side of the road.

For years I've had my suspicions that the traffic police didn't know what they're doing but each year I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt... however that has all now changed, this is proof they don't know what they're doing!

Flabbergasted !!!

and this year’s DARWIN AWARD goes to...

What about using real patrol cars that can intercept faulty drivers on the road.

I my 12 years here, I never saw a patrol car stop a contrevenant on the roads.

I know  regular traffic police have old pick-up truck but VIP escort have the new BMW and Camry.

Road block do not stop bad driving !

They have to modify traffic laws too so a faulty driver or uninsured car can be towed away at the owners expense and the cars sold after 6 months if not claimed.

I have another idea....one could always try using a "real" car?

Sponsored by a private company the Dummy Cars will be sited at forty accident blackspots nationwide.

Lets see how many of these 40 sites remains in 1 piece after new year

If I spot one of these babies, it is definitely cummin home with me in the back of the truck. One for the collection. I tea-leafed one of those stone cops already when a little bit drunk. In the back garden. Too scared to take it back. ????

Why should this make any difference. Thais take no notice of real police cars anyway.

limit the carnage or reduce number of police officers working?

Bwaaa Haaaa Haaaa as if that nonsense will work, it will stop the BHT collecting traffic road blocks. As soon as they realise they will lose revenue the signs will go missing or get put away.

Dummy police car parked in the fast lane. That sums it up. My brain hurts.????

If it isn't bolted down it looks like a good present for some kid to play with...oh dear oh dear oh dear, surely this is a joke.

Just when you think you have seen it all!

Dummy cop cars for the dummies that drivbe cars in thailand Suiets the situation well Ok cops relax the dummies will do the job you suppose to do

I see cars speeding past real police vehicles with no consequence let alone cardboard ones.  I imagine they will be laying flat when traffic gets congested and the shoulder is used as an extra lane.

If only we could get some of the nitwits to actually get out, and patrol the highways, that would be far more of a deterrent than a cardboard car poster. Besides, nobody cares about a cop car on the side of he road here. There is no fear of the LPF (local police franchisees). They are an utterly powerless and impotent force.

So true. Proactive patrolling of the roadways is unknown. It seems their ideas are limited to stationary, lazy inspired devices and "toll collection checkpoints". Much of the world has a different idea about patrol units, but not here. The numbers of roadway deaths speaks volumes about the incompetence.

You see people driving past real police cars at over 100kph so I don't think a cardboard cutout is going to address the situation!!!! ????????????????????
