Pattaya: Immigration in Xmas charm offensive... but still time for those who've been naughty not nice!

Smiling Chonburi immigration officials went to Walking Street on Christmas Eve for a charm offensive.

Led by chief Pol Col Naren Khreuangsanuk they were pictured with the bustling throngs of tourists in the famed entertainment area and its surrounding walkways.

But the smiles did not mean that the officers were neglecting their duties - it was part of a December 24th to January 2nd operation to ensure the safety of the public during the festive season.

The operation was bad news for a man from the Ivory Coast and a Filipina.

Ibrahim T., 30, was arrested on Christmas Day on a four and a half year overstay.

Djezabel S. was caught on overstay of 1,256 days.

Naew Na urged the public to keep reported those who have been naughty not nice on the 1178 line.

One day we hear from hoteliers and bar owners that tourists are down 40%, another day there's now 'bustling throngs of tourists'.

Or is it perhaps only one 'throng' - I wonder how many tourists there are to the throng?

It's busier than it was earlier. But that is no surprise, given the time of year. Though some areas off the usual beaten track are still desolate. Areas that were being filled with Chinese tour groups are suffering badly.

I was shocked to find that sizeable air-con sea view apartments are going for 4k per month, short-term, at this time of year.

Definitely an over-supply at the moment.

The 40% article was not news, it was just an article by ThaiVisa were they said that "famous nightclubs were down 40%"but were - of course - they didn't give any nightclub name... :whistling:

Hard to believe... Would you share a link please ?

They look like soldiers to me in that green uniform....and is the guy in blue also police? If so then how should we know that?

Yes Immigration Police   though the foreigner with glasses and beard is most likely a "Police Volunteer"

with "lesser powers" of arrest ?

Its a trick of the light/ camera   the uniforms are brown..hence the  B.I.B   ( boys in brown) nickname.

If they did this on a Nightly Basis and Stayed Longer than it takes to Walk Down the Street (i.e. Proactive Police Work) tourists might actually feel safer and more tourists might arrive. Next Life!

I would like to know exactly what their duties are.  Then we can make a list-start with law enforcement

Really - they must all be up Third Road towards Pattaya Nua then. Multiple tour buses with many Chinese at the Chinese BBQ place/Muay Thai/Amporn sea food etc. To the extent that the junction and side road become impassable around 8pm.

Long-Time On The Way Out

so says stickman

Bargirls today have little interest in entertaining customers these days, be it in the bar or the bedroom. The so-called girlfriend experience – where a customer takes a lady not just for the night, but for many days, maybe a week or longer – is all but a memory.

Long-time is on the way out. Throw silly money at a lady today and you might get a whole night of adult fun entertainment with some ladies. Might. But it’s on the way out so enjoy it while it lasts.

And expect short-time to get even shorter. Short-time hotels used to offer rooms in for one hours. Now it’s one. What’s next? 45 minutes, or less?

Old Ladies Are Us

The average age of bar staff will creep up. Young Thais have options and for those who make the decision to sell themselves, there are many apps and websites where they can promote themselves online. There is absolutely no need to work in a bar unless that is what they want – and most don’t.

Remember, for many girls, dancing in a bikini – or less – while being ogled by men is a bigger deal than the exchange of sex for cash.

There will always be some bars where the average age of staff is in the low 20s, but expect most bars to have older crews than they do today.

sounds like the kiss of death for patters

Hard to see how someone in NZ knows so much about Pattaya!

Why bother? waste of time! :shock1:

Perfect for Indians and Chinese, Pattaya will soon only be a memory for most of us.

Just give the Thais any uniform and they will be happy, even more so if it has any badges, medals, ribbons, stripes etc, on it.

Collecting money in some form will surely be part of it.

perhaps lived here for many months/years !!! DUH !!

Wonder where Big Joke, or Little Oud are during this welcome party. So much racism, ranting, so many proclamations about crackdowns on us evil foreigners have been made, it is far too late for this kind of PR stunt. The trend is in motion already. Tens of thousands of loyal ex-pats, who were good men, brought alot to the table, and contributed significantly to the nation, have already left, or are planning on leaving, because you fools forced our hands with your incessant nonsense. And you have also done a great job of skinning the golden goose of tourism, alive!

Keep focusing on the numbers, the sheer quantity of tourists, and forget the quality tourists. They have abandoned Thailand for good. You reap that which you sow in this life. Now, live with the result.
