Upper Thailand gets colder by 1-3 °C, isolated thundershowers and hails forecast

The strong high-pressure system covering the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea will bring cooler temperatures to the Northeast with drops of 1-3° Celsius while the westerly trough over the upper North and the upper Northeast of Thailand could lead to isolated thundershowers and hail in the North, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Monday (December 30).

 

The East and the Central regions will see isolated light rain with chilly temperatures in the morning, mostly in the upper part. Easterly winds will prevail over the South and the Gulf with isolated thundershowers.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

 

Northern region: Cool in the morning with isolated thundershowers and hails in 10 per cent of the area; t lows of 16-21 degrees and highs of 26-33 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 5-12 degrees on hilltops.

 

Northeastern region: Cool to cold with isolated thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows 15-19 degrees, highs 31-33 degrees Celsius.

 

Temperature likely to drop to 7-11 degrees on hilltops.

 

Central region: Cool in the morning and isolated rain; lows 20-22 degrees, highs 33-34 degrees Celsius.

 

Eastern region: Cool in the morning and isolated rain; lows 20-22 degrees, highs 32-35 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre.

 

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area; lows 21-23 degrees, high 31-33 degrees Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.

 

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area; lows 21-24 degrees, highs 32-34 degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.

 

Bangkok and surrounding area: Partly cloudy with isolated rain, lows 22-23 degrees, highs 33-35 degrees Celsius.

Hmm, so where exactly? Nothing a bit more precise?

People have audio equipment, Christmas/New Year lights and other electrical stuff outside, so a little bit more info to go on would be nice, such as a map over the affected area perhaphs.

Probably that kind of info is available, but where I come from it is sold as a premium to businesses or sports events where it is important to know what to expect and to plan accordingly. They can tell you with great accuracy, within minutes, when rain is due, and so those at Wimbledon can be ready with the court covers, for example. It's possible that Thailand has the same thing, a premium service for sale.

 

Or, people could look at the sky for free ????

Have you not noticed how changeable the weather is, it can rain a mile away while you get nothing, how can this be predicted? Sure they have some idea how the weather front will react when it comes in, they feed this info into a computer, the bigger the computer the better and they give us a general forecast, the forecasts for big cities will always be more accurate as they put more time and effort into it, no point wasting money trying to accurately forecast weather for areas with few people, it is possible to get good forecasts as stated, costs a lot as need a lot of resources! 

"Rainviewer" is a good app, you can track storms on radar real time, but there will be instances where you are sure a major storm is going to hit only for it to veer away or die out, its simply not that predictable.
