First meteor shower of 2020 to be visible during the early hours of January 4th

Star gazers in Thailand will be able to enjoy the new year’s first display of shooting stars, called the Quadrantid meteor shower, on January 4th, according to Mr. Suparoek Karuhanont of the National Astronomical Research Institute.

Finance Ministry aims to fix currency issue, taking care of overall economy

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Finance is set to issue SME business measures as a 2020 New Year gift, which is expected to be submitted for Cabinet’s approval next month. The Ministry is now working to solve the overly strong Thai baht issue, and set up committees to look after overall economic development.

EGAT imports LNG for electricity production

RAYONG (NNT) - After the Committee on Energy Policy Administration (CEPA) approved the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand’s (EGAT) proposal to import 200,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for power generation, the first cargo of LNG was shipped to Thailand. The importation of LNG will help reduce the the fuel tariff (FT) rate on electricity use, by 0.01 satang per unit.

Industry Ministry approves loans worth ฿70m to SMEs

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Permanent Secretary for Industry, Kobchai Sungsittisawat, said today the government approved 70.8 million baht in soft loans for 28 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) between November 15 and December 20 this year. The government is offering soft loans worth 3 billion baht to SMEs, under its Pracha Rat scheme.

Police to be vigilant at NY party spots nationwide
