Trump vows to hit 52 Iranian targets if Iran retaliates after drone strike

It seems like you’re hungry for slaughter. As I asked somewhere else, I assume then that you’ll be the first to send your own children, or your neighbor’s children, into the thick of it (?)

Iran is indeed a troubled country (I have friends there, and they tell me). But what I’m waiting for more is for the United States to itself become “normal.”

Trump could have easily  ordered the strike and then the US could have easily denied any responsibility for it. Similar to what the Iranians have done with the bombing of Saudia Arabia's  oil fields.

Instead Trump. always playing the hero and  having to take credit for everything- not only lauds the killing and then boasts that the US will strrike again at 52 targets.  It plays well to his base and all those Americans who can sit home watching TV, and whose children can still go about their business as the US no longer has conscription.

Now 3,000 more US troops are headed to the Middle East to join thousands of others tied down in Saudia Arabia and Quatar not to mention  those on ships at sea.

Does iran support terrorism and was the Iranian General a leader and supporter of  State terrorism.   There is no doubt.

Dealing with these issues takes  a broad coalition of Allies as well as the  use of Special Operations forces and Inteligence operatives.  He did not seek the guidance of any of the US Allies or the US Congress.  He acted alone/

Donald Trump's actions  and his stated bravado have now put the World on edge.  His scuttling of the Iran Nuclear Agreement- which was signed by the US: the EU and Russia started the march toward war.

Every allied country and the US CIA and US Defense Department advised Trump not to pull out of this agreement.  Against all sound advice- he did what everyone said not to do and then added on sanctions.

The US is tied down in Iraq; Afghanistan and possibly North Korea.  Now we have a posiblity of going to war with Iran.   The US has spent almost a Trillion Dollars on this nonsense while Americans at home cannot afford healthcare;  cannot afford  an education and  have a crumbling infrastructure.

Donald Trump is a meglomaniac and an incompetent who refuses to  understand that what really makes America a great country is to stop playing the policemen of the World; stop  abrogating agreements made in good faith and start listening to  the experts within the Us Government who actually know what they are doing.

How many more Americans have to die; how many more combatants on either side have to be wounded and disabled?   No more.  Bring the troops home.

What earthly difference will that make? the same people will still be in "power" calling the shots, there will just be a different talking head!

Who? The so called deep state?

Do you know who made that phrase famous? Steve Bannon

But check what he wrote recently about the deep state:

The “deep state conspiracy theory is for nut cases,” Mr. Bannon is quoted as saying in a new book released next week, “Deep State: Trump, the FBI and the Rule of Law” by James B. Stewart

Can USA afford this war? amazing that the cost is never discussed just "collateral damage" billions will be spent destroying yet another country!

Best cut the food stamp budget some more to pay for yet another pointless "war" (annihilation of innocents!)

Doubtless the Military Industrial complex will yet again profit enormously, but that is the reasoning for putting "puppets" into positions of power!

America will just print more money.  alway's has to feed the industrial military complex.  the threat of war is big business.

Trump is no joke, Iran is in deep trouble.

Personally I would like to see all US and Allied troops withdrawn from the whole Middle East. Leave them to kill each other, just like they have for centuries. Not our business.

Interestingly, Lockheed Martin share price rose about 3 times stronger than Dow average 24 hours before the assassination of Soleimani; similar anticipatory upswing seen with Raytheon.

FAKE NEWS (check you MSM settings, watching RT?)

Soleimani was killed on 3 January 2020 around 1:00 a.m. local time (22:00 UTC on 2 January),[103 This was still the evening of Jan 2 in the US.

Shares opened normally on Jan 3 on the NYSE and then rose strongly in the morning hours.

DoctorG you are correct.  The USA has for decades stuck its nose in areas around the world and only made the situation worse.  However, I would suggest that if you vacate those regions, the USA has to stop allowing people from those areas to enter the USA.  You can't allow them to get trained overseas to be planted on your home soil.

That's pretty interesting. A bit of insider trading, perhaps? As they say, follow the money ...

Astonishing to see the juvenile and overly simplistic views in many of the comments here, as if Trump and the US are the bad guys here in Iran is just this underdog little helpless country who doesn't really understand what the world want from it and why they're being blamed for acts of aggression when all the they want to do is to protect their little peace loving country, many of the poster here either too young or too ignorant to learn from history of the middle east conflicts and of iran bloody history of wars and aggressions towards its neighbours and far away countries and iran hate anyone that is not a Shia, the US and Israel and will go to any length to show this hate...

Yes.... I laughed... over simplistic views or too young to have any sense of history... good one.

then I googled “list of wars involving Iran” and found about 18 listings dating from around the time of the American revolution... y’all know what I googled next, right?

ding ding ding... “list of wars involving the us”.... and counted some 122 items..... 18 VS 122! From the same source, presumedly using the same metric.

And that is why I laughed.... “too ignorant to learn from history” you say... I say ; too ignorant of history.

All wars and conflicts after WWII were provoked by the Americans or Israelis!
Was there ever an American president without a war?
Stop it, you have already reduced the Middle East into an explosive cluster, ENOUGH !!!

Please, do not blame the Mau Mau Emergency on the USA. Please, the Malaysian insurrection wasn't because of America either. Not sure about the trouble in N. Ireland, that may have been America's fault.  Lots of bad stuff happens in the World and is difficult to blame on the USA. Oh, I really am puzzled that you are blaming the conflict at the Malvinas on the USA.

The Commander in Chief has no idea about security, strategy, planning or keeping his big mouth shut. He loves to advertise his moves and capabilities. Even told his son before he told Congress and key government officials. He is not playing with credit which is all he has done in his life (and failed at least 5 times) he is playing with the lives of thousands of Americans. If it is like his trade war (easy to win) he may be in for a big surprise.

Yer... since 1979, your link stated.... seems they are still peed off about that whole CIA orchestrated debacle.... so hey, let’s point the finger where it should be pointed. The usa is responsible for all this, from day 1. Iran is simply reacting.

Wiki says Britain was in Iran way before the USA.  Back then Britain controlled the oil fields of Iran.
