Trump vows to hit 52 Iranian targets if Iran retaliates after drone strike

Featured Replies

A lot seem to have had their eyes closed for the past twenty years and still fail to see beyond the "smoke & mirrors" & use this as yet another opportunity to knock Trump.

How many years has the USA and its great Military Industrial complex been itching for a war with Iran (& others) just look at the "Project for the new American Century" look at the authors, 20 some years later they are still bound and determined!

Look beyond Trump for once, gets incredibly boring and shows the ignorance!

Eyes open! :goof:

Sure, why not start WW3 to avoid leaving office and be impeached.

We've been in WWIII since 9/11 (if you're not even counting the Cold War with Russia). Where have you been. We should be worried about WWIV, the probable nuclear one.

I don’t think the so-called War on Terror can be counted as “World War III,” but I’m reminded of something that Einstein said: he said that he wasn’t sure what weapons would be used to fight World War III, but that World War IV would be fought with sticks and stones.

How suicidal as a species are we, really? The only not-insane option is restraint.

Tucker Carlson a Trump stalwart has taken a widely different view to his master on this. Maybe some of the 'chest beaters' should take note.

While he mostly refrained from criticized Trump directly, Carlson condemned "chest-beaters" who advocate for foreign interventions. He asked four questions that made clear his anti-war point of view: "Is Iran really the greatest threat we face? And who's actually benefiting from this? And why are we continuing to ignore the decline of our own country in favor of jumping into another quagmire from which there is no obvious exit? By the way, if we're still in Afghanistan, 19 years, sad years, later, what makes us think there's a quick way out of Iran?"

Tucker forgot to mention the rocket attack that killed a U.S. contractor and injured some U.S. soldiers. He failed to mention the U.S. Embassy attack that, no doubt, was the direct trigger for taking out Soliemani, plus Iran leadership's "arrogant attitude of impunity" re that attack. Not to mention how expensive those bullet-resistant embassy windows are and what it's going to cost to replace them and anything else destroyed by the PMF mob. They were lucky the Marines didn't use live rounds on the so-called protesters. I'm changing into a "Get off my lawn" kind of guy these days.

Soliemani should have stayed well away from Baghdad, such a "mastermind" was he! Fifty-two potential retaliatory targets, eh? I hope one of them is the Grand Mullah (or whatever) - unfortunately, that's probably not going to happen. The ball is in the Grand Mullah's court now.

It's a tit-for-tat war at this point and who do you suppose has the biggest "tit"?

Maybe someone should hit Trump 52 times on the head. Maybe it helps. Not that I have much hope but I am confident it won't make his mental condition any worse.

Poetic justice would see Iran taking out Trump in revenge, not killing any innocent people. If only dreams could make wishes come true. ????

Same can be said about the good ole US of A, only they do it on a much larger scale and under the guise of “defending democracy” or some other BS.

So much Trump derangement syndrome on here. What nasty twisted people. Well done Trump this Brit gives full support and sleeps far better knowing you are in charge. Thanks to Obama with gifts of uranium, gold and money to Iran has made the world a far more dangerous place. Wind your neck in Iran your terrorist supporting days are numbered. I never supported the war on Iraq but would support a war on the real danger: Iran.

Interestingly, Lockheed Martin share price rose about 3 times stronger than Dow average 24 hours before the assassination of Soleimani; similar anticipatory upswing seen with Raytheon.

What earthly difference will that make? the same people will still be in "power" calling the shots, there will just be a different talking head!

I'm sure the millions of innocents that will be slaughtered in the pursuit of peace wouldn't support your opinion.

Will you personally fight in this war or should some other man's children die to please the weapons manufacturers and big oil?

Trump has put all his family in the crosshairs for the rest of their naturals , though given their wealth there is probably very little risk there. The Iranians will bide their time and any revenge will probably be proxied in some form.

Sadly, this is the only language Iran seems to understand.

And luckily, Trump is fluent at it.

i'm not quite sure Trump and family would be interesting targets for Iran in search of retaliation, for they are just individuals, not that emblematic.

Taking out POTUS or one of his immediate family not emblematic?

secret service agents will have to be vetted more thoroughly.

Eg. someone called Mike Amanpour hypothetically speaking.

Interesting that Trump should draw on this number of 52 targets based on an incident from 40 years ago. Perhaps this is meant as a "hands-off" warning on behalf of the embassy.

Play safe make it 52000000000000000  that way there  can be no recriminations

France stepped up diplomatic initiatives on Saturday to ease tensions

Nothing like having the French step up diplomatic initiatives.  France has not been an ally to the USA since the revolutionary war and then only because they hated the British more than the Americans.

No, not emblematic of Iran power of nuisance, IMO,  because of US own record  ( A. Lincoln, Garfield, Mc Kinley, JFK..).

I'm afraid they might try something less obvious - that serves their interest, not just "an eye  for an eye"-  but I can be wrong

Yer... since 1979, your link stated.... seems they are still peed off about that whole CIA orchestrated debacle.... so hey, let’s point the finger where it should be pointed. The usa is responsible for all this, from day 1. Iran is simply reacting.

Cyber certainly they've just graffitied a US gov. site - let's hope they can't do something more significant.

"“In the US as in Britain, the Iraq war, even before the financial crisis of 2008, radically reduced the confidence people had in political institutions – which contributed to the Brexit vote. Mr Blair is not responsible for everything. But he fully participated in one of the biggest strategic errors since the second world war.”

France, vilified at the time for not supporting the war in Iraq, had been right.

We've seen this type of thing before.  Trump accusing his "enemies" of something that he has either done, or will do, himself:

"In media appearances prior to the 2012 election, Donald Trump repeatedly predicted that then-President Barack Obama would start a war with Iran in order to win reelection".

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/03/politics/kfile-trump-obama-2012-iran-war-reelection/index.html

And, as for effectively declaring war on Iran without Congressional approval, well we've seen what happens when presidents try to do that as well.  In 2013 Obama asked for approval to launch strikes on Syria following the sarin gas attacks there.  The Republican controlled Congress denied it, and furthermore warned him that only Congress has the power under the Constitution to declare war (which is correct), and he would be up for impeachment if he were to bypass them in doing so.  I can't wait for Trump's 2020 campaign slogan, "Hypocrisy?  You know it makes sense!"

Your post makes several false statements.

I suuggest you research the war powers act and the also the leeway a president has to take military action.

As an American..... I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY........

Where ever you are from, I doub't you can be as proud as I am to be an American......... America has always been a place that 'Doesn't swat the mosquito until we feel the sting'....

I personally have travelled to over 80 countries in the world and I would not give up my USA citizenship for any other....

Being American, I DIDN'T LIKE TRUMP,   but I don't like muslims either after seeing muslim immigrant populated areas of European and Scandanavian countries.... I DON'T want that in the USA.... So I must join with TRUMP on that.... These IRANIANS (muslims) are out to conquer the world and 'steal' everything we have and give it as an offering to 'allah'.... I am with TRUMP on this one issue.... 'allah' isn't getting anything of mine, IF I CAN HELP IT.....

Note:  I have PURPOSLEY NOT CAPITALIZED muslim and allah for my own reasons.....

Can USA afford this war? amazing that the cost is never discussed just "collateral damage" billions will be spent destroying yet another country!

Best cut the food stamp budget some more to pay for yet another pointless "war" (annihilation of innocents!)

Doubtless the Military Industrial complex will yet again profit enormously, but that is the reasoning for putting "puppets" into positions of power!
