If you receive a letter telling you that your permission to stay ends with your membership you are on very dodgy ground if you stay beyond the membership expiry.

You are legal until the stay permit stamped in your passport is cancelled, but they could (unlikely) backdate cancellation to the date the membership ended and create an overstay situation.

You’re in Thailand. There’s no such thing as definitive info

There are a lot of people with elite visa. You would think a few are currently in their "6th year" and could advise if they have current permission of stay in similar way to folk on second year of their non o-a. Also if the guys on elite have been able to obtain reentry permit and travel out in of Thailand.

I would regard few posts from members that have an elite visa pretty definitive.

Simple question

> Why then do IO stamp you in when re-entering Thailand in the 5th year of your Elite Visa, with a 1 year permission to stay that goes beyond the 5 Year Elite Visa expiry date?

Because it is the same as any other multiple entry visa. They allow a new entry up do the date they expire.

This is a very strange topic. You would imagine that elite visa holders would be all over this to assist members. Has not happened. Even elite visa company initially stepped back. Think they even advised elite members that 6th yr a no go.

Then read a recent release from them it was A OK.

Definitive info  would be nice. Rather than rumours.

If they are selling the visa they say the 6th year is still a thing. If the visa is running out it’s a no go. Interesting how that works.

I get what you’re saying but one person’s experiences cannot be relevant to yours because every officer in every office has the freedom to change, bend, break or just not follow the rules as they please.

The thing is it seems as mentioned above that the elite visa you are given a 12 month permission of stay for any entry into Thailand during its fifth year.

If you obtain ed a re-entry permit that would protect that permission of stay.

Hard to imagine how any io could reject someone with a valid reentry permit and permission of stay who leaves and re-enters

Just would of liked to hear from someone that has done this with elite visa and confirm.

Therefore your 5 year membership would expire but your visa wouldn’t until you next exit the country....which could be a year so logically you can get 6 years.

Your elite visa along with membership would expire end of 5 years. Any permission of stay (12 months) would be valid. Exactly as an O-A expires after one year any permission of stay given in that year is valid

And of course you would need to have a re-entry permit, when exiting and re-entering Thailand after expiry of your Elite Visa 5-year validity, to keep that final granted permission to stay alive during the 6th year.
