Rules for some...

How can he see the no plate etc from that angle?

Besides a "new" bike with no plates is quite common place.

The only obvious issue from his view would be the no helmet. Which again, is no real issue unless they want to make it one, like so many other things.

Its not the laws that's the problem its the enforcement and total lack of real consequences to an offence or action.

The last point, which you cant know, is why is he there, he may be there to block the traffic for passing through dignitaries, in which case he cannot be diverted for petty issues of no helmet.

But thats just one of many possible answers and scenarios.

Your title might be better as "enforcement for some" as the rules are for everyone but not always enforced, ????

(IMHO)

No mirror even worse than no helmet.

From the tire and exhaust I doubt it's new.

Usual thing in Thailand only westerners seemed to be bothered by it.

It's usual to see old bikes with no rego plates being ridden on the 4 or 6 lane highways of BKK?

Pretty obvious that the subject bike in the photos is not "new" ????

There's actually THREE obvious issues that the police officer would have noticed... 1/ no helmet  2/ no rear view mirrors 3/ she's riding on a 6 (!) lane highway without 1/ and 2/

Actually I DO know. That's a very busy and congested intersection, especially during the xmas holiday season. Officers are dispatched there every xmas holiday season to blow their whistles to keep drivers alert so as to get as many cars through each green cycle as possible. They were definitely not there for any "passing dignitaries".

The final caption in the photos implies that the officer standing there blowing a whistle, next to fully functional traffic lights, may have taken different action if it was a FARANG sitting helmet-less on a motorbike on a 6 lane highway with no mirrors. So thanks for your suggestion, but the title of "Rules for some" is the correct one....and the only one IMHO ????

P.S. I 100% agree with the poster who mentioned that no mirrors is worse than no helmet. (Riding without mirrors is more dangerous to others that no helmet is)
