Upper Thailand remains cool and foggy, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Wednesday (January 8 ) due to the weakening high-pressure system covering the Northeast and East of Thailand and the South China Sea.

 

Also, the westerly trough at high altitude prevails across Myanmar and northern Thailand beinging in cold air from the Himalayas. The weather wiil be cool with fog in the upper country during the morning, while the day will be sunny. All transport should proceed with caution in foggy area.

 

Easterly winds will blow across the lower Gulf and the lower South of the country, and isolated rains are forecast for the South.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

 

Northern region: Cool weather with fog in the morning, temperature lows of 16-21 degrees Celsous and highs of 30-36 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 5-14 degrees Celsius on hilltops with frost in some areas.

 

Northeastern region: Cool weather with fog in the morning, temperatures lows of 18-21 degrees Celsius and highs of 34-35 degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 12-15 degrees on hilltops.

 

Central region: Cool weather with fog in the morning; temperature lows of 20-22 degrees Celsius, highs of 35-36 degrees Celsius.

 

Eastern region: Cool weather with fog in the morning; lows of 20-24 degrees Celsius, highs of 32-36 degrees Celsius; wave height of 1 metre.

 

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 20-23 degrees Celsius, highs 31-34 degrees Celsius; wave height one metre.

 

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 23-26 degrees Celsius, highs of 31-34 degree Celsius; wave height one metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.

 

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Partly cloudy and foggy in the morning; lows of 23-25 degrees Celsius, highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius.

Fake news. Chiang Mai it's warming up day times, and even at midnight can comfortably sit outside in shorts and tank top (vest,singlet). Mid-afternoon currently 38c in the sun, 28c in shade. Brrrr! ???? 

 

Only cold on hilltops (1000m+) at night.
