OP, the lunch break is 12-1pm. You need Thai consulate office by 11.30am.

Next day best to get to office about 12.30pm

It is possible to get it done with one night in Saigon. It is tight but doable

I assume you mean the consular section. Thailand does not have immigration offices outside the country.

Thanks joe. Yes Thai consulate.

BTW OP, It's a small and well run office and easy to get to.

I went a few weeks ago, very straightforward. They only let a few in at a time and there is little shade outside so best to have an umbrella. I had all my docs printed off and signed and went straight to the window, those that had gone in before me were filling something in on the desks. In and out in about 6/7 minutes.

When you have paid, only USD accepted, you will be given a collection slip for the following afternoon. Collection is very quick, they had done everyone by the time our taxi turned up, about 20 minutes. Good luck.

OP - If you are thinking about a flying visit your nationality could make a big difference. I am from the UK and was visa exempt so just went straight through immigration. My friend however, from Ireland, had a visa and when he got to the immigration desk was told it had to be stamped by the office. This was an online visa, not an approval letter, but fortunately it did not take very long. He took the bull by the horns and went straight to the desk and asked for the visa to be stamped, the IO hesitated but then stamped it and he went straight back to the same immigration desk and got straight through.

Potential problems here are an awkward IO could have made him join the queue of those with the letters, about a hundred at the time, and also he may not have got straight back to an immigration desk.

Bottom line - If you need a visa and wish to fly into HCMC with the intention of going to the consulate that morning it would be safer to get visa from embassy before travel.
