SteveInBKKandMAUI Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Hello, Just back from a month at our condo in BKK near BTS Saphan Khwai station. My Thai wife and I go 2-3 times a year. YES! I AM STILL SICK! SHE IS, TOO! Lot of coughing. Headache. Feel horrible. Somewhat "Flu-like" conditions, but Maui, Hawaii doctor ran tests. No FLU. No pnemonia. Just BACTERIAL. My Maui Doctor has been to BKK and has these suggestions for when I go back to BKK: SUGGESTIONS FROM MAUI DOCTOR: + Before going to BKK, load-up on Vitamin C. + Wear a mask. (ugh) + Forget about the B1 Shot. It's worthless. + Load Up On Vitamins. It won't hurt. + 1 Teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar, twice a day. + Drink a LOT of pure orange juice and pomagranite juice. + Get some "Moxxie" at Thai pharmacy. Excellent antibiotic. (I love this stuff!) + Definately wear a mask on flight to BKK and on BTS Skytrain. + Keep your hands clean and out of your mouth and nose. + Wear A Mask Even If You Don't Want To. + Buy an air purifer for our condo. My Doctor here has been to Thailand and she got sick, too. These were her suggestions. Quote Edit 2

I suggest chaging your doctor... Absolutely. And Amoxicillin at that...so heavily overused in Thailand that almost everything is resistant to it. (I assume by "Moxxie" meant to say "Moxxo")

I suggest chaging your doctor... That's not how resistance to antibiotics occurs. It's the bacteria you fail to kill that builds up a resistance to the antibiotic. Usually from people not completing the complete course of antibiotics. @Sheryl I've only had Amoxicillin fail to do the job once in 10 years of taking it. Good for infected cuts and spots, the runs, and gall bladder infections. (There was a UTI that wouldn't stop with Moxy, but Cipro killed it) It's my first choice of antibiotic, less than 30bht for 10 x500mg capsules at Macro Pharmacy. Edited January 22, 2020 by BritManToo
