What do they want? Warning signs all over the resort?

Maybe every 50 meter or how often would be convenient?

If they know the hazards are all over the resort maybe they should drive accordingly all over the resort.

correction ,,,,,,,world  class  resort

Thai media "We Love Pattaya" said on Facebook that dangers are everywhere in Pattaya as the authorities bury cables and dig up roads

Thailands roads are a mess full-stop... expect anything to snag you when out on two wheels.

Concur about dufus rider ... no sympathy at all.

Anybody who actually knows how to ride a bike knows that steel plates on roadways are slippery slides and if they cannot be avoided need to be ridden over very slowly and with bike absolutely vertically with no , no direction changes,  braking or accelerating while crossing them. Was the d...head wearing a helmet at all as well?

Agree copletely maybe except the "very slowly". Just stay exactly straight, never brake and let you hands realxed.

(And then hope that the sneaky xenophobic metal shield does not bump up one meter and cut you into pieces).

It looks like he had a helmet. The thing in front of him at the ground could be one. Hopefully he wore it instead driving it around in the shoping basket of his hell machine.

Tourists come to thailand for an experience and then complain about everything. They want everything just like home. I hope Thailand dont become another nanny state in the future

Thailand needs to embrace itself and not rely so much on Tourists... Tourists and the greed for money from tourists will ruin Thailand.

Look at the street, dumbhead.

Maybe he never drove a motorbike before. Plenty of old farang here tumbling around on ther Honda Waves without having a DL.

But as always: The Thais are to blame.

Those large metal sheets are dangerous and unfit for purpose. Even when dry they are a skid risk and when wet are lethal for motorbikes.

They should at least have a textured top surface so they don't act like a permanent sheet of ice waiting for the next victim to come along.

And they move.  There's a few on my regular commute in Bangkok, and I notice the action of the traffic makes them creep a few inches each day, eventually uncovering the hole.

But it may be the tarmac rippling torque of my powerful Honda Supercub that's causing them to move?

I reckon he panicked, grabbed the front brake and bike went down, rest is history

People have a basic right not be garroted or caused to crash due to utter negligence and laziness on the roads

Do you think that a society with absolutely no personal responsibility or regard for life is something to praise?

Right nice try telling one of these Thai apologists, IE. It happens everywhere, it's so quaint, if you don't like it... Ad- nuaseum. That come out of the woodworks every time someone calls spades spades.

Oh, come on, maybe the man had a driving license, maybe a steel plate over a hole in the road without any signs is a very bad idea, maybe yes, the Thais are to blame?

How are things done in JustAnotherHun country, then?

In JustAnotherHun's country the once very good streets are crumbling apart piece by piece. BUT, we have an overwhelming huge bureaucrazy there which loves to put warning and prohibition signs wherever it is possible or even not :-).

Have a look at the picture. The shield is huge, the street is straight and dry. There's no way to go down if you don't make a driving fault.

The rider may  have seen it too late and panicked, overbraked, teared the handlebar sharply to avoid the shield in the last moment instead of keeping his speed and go straight on.

So he must be unexperienced, distracted, drunk or all together.

Fortunately Thailand is not  Europe or US. If the farang was an expat, he should have known about Pattaya's steadily "under construction" streets and Thailand's streets and drivers.

As tourist and as unexperienced with or without DL driver one should not ride on two wheels.

But as you see here, the haters, complainers and whiners will use every chance to put the blame on Thailand and the Thais.

Yep, it takes a special breed to survive on Thai roads.

People think they can hop off the aeroplane and ride these roads.

It takes a unique skill set.

Most of them survive by sheer dumb luck and the statistics that say even in crazy dangerous traffic, only one in 3,000 people die each year.

There but for the Grace of God...  (Luck of the draw for you atheists...)

yeah blame the flip flops

I won't wear them because they can slip off when riding, as can many other shoe types like crocs. Anyhow, all the controls are on the handlebars for scooters. Only need feet when you stop... that is when you loose such a poor choice of footwear.

Flip flops are the least of the worries. Helmet first, then upper body armour then leg, hip and knee armour, might as well get a car
