khonlanna
Now that you can use your credit card when you ride a city bus, is there anybody that has tapped your Amex card? It seems Visa and Master card are accepted but what about Amex contactless card?
asanee
You have seen some things but are completely wrong. Unless you are again one of those farang who thinks he is oso funny. First: this only applies to the real BMTA (now BoKoSo) govmt, run citybuses-mostly the old red hot and the orange and brandnew all blue AC. NOT on the rot ruam=private, thats strictly cash only and will be so for many yrs. Here in BKK the color of the bus is not a company, but the fare system it uses. MOST people whom you think pay by card are on the blue flag welfare card being recognised as genuine poor people and they get a monthly credit of 600 bt they can spend on transportation from the govmt only-also trains. This replaces the former free for all buses and trains. What they omit this way is that the free transportation would be of more benefit to the matayom kids as for most parents. The former sabtaa and duan=weekly and monthly seasons have been replaced by chipcards, you first have to succeed in getting one from the BMTA in a very complicated process and then load the season on it on KrunghThai ATM-its 240 bt for 7 days AC+red, so saves money if using the bus daily to go work/school. Lower prices for students in uniform. Thus the nr of users has dropped dramatically compared with old paper cards. They do plan-but thats for at least 20 yrs now, to replace it with onboard self-serve payment for anyone and thus scrap the old conductors-khon ghep thang-but we will see how that will ever work here. This is still not China or Singapore.
