Sole Thai with coronavirus recovers, goes home

The only Thai known to have been infected with the novel coronavirus has fully recovered and returned home, Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr Sukhum Karnchanapimai reported on Friday (January 24). 

 

The 73-year-old woman had tested negative for the virus two days in a row at Nakhon Pathom Hospital.

 

Dr Sukhum said the ministry had intensified all precautions for the duration of the Chinese New Year Festival through Monday, including screening airline passengers arriving from high-risk locales at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi airports.

 

It’s estimated that 21,400 passengers arriving on 136 flights will undergo thermal screening. 

 

Anyone showing a fever will be taken aside and given a facemask before their temperature is taken again. 

 

Anyone with a fever and respiratory symptoms will be taken by ambulance to a hospital with quarantine facilities until they can be repatriated.

 

All arriving Chinese tourists will receive a health warning card advising them to seek admission to hospital should they fall ill. 

 

Sukhum said the ministry had asked tour companies and tour guides to help monitor the situation and to notify medical authorities about any customers showing suspicious symptoms.

No, if you read the first sentence (known to be infected) she had it and was then cured.

yes but the medical establishment already admit they can provide no actual Cure, nor any known established treatment for it

Yes I agree there is no cure although symptoms can be treated, fever etc. In a majority of cases I suppose patients immune systems will defeat the virus but in a small percentage it won't, that's where hospital treatment will be useful to say remove fluid on the lungs of elderly people whose immune systems have been compromised.

draining... but probably too late by then.  They say there's no treatment.

 

Draining is a treatment, therefore must have been found to be a waste of effort in this scenario?

Theres a silver side to every cloud.... the infection rate may have been much higher if everyone wasnt forced to wear masks to protect themselves from the Smog-Apocalypse. ????

Stop searching for a cure. The virus has no chance against Som Tum and Lao Khao. 

How many people that this lady was in contact with since she arrived back in Thailand have been tested for the virus?

The same question about the passengers and crew who travelled from Wuhan on the planes with the other 4 confirmed cases of the virus in Thailand. Is there any follow up on those people? 

Strongly expect more and more cases to emerge in the coming days and weeks.

If Wuhan can't stop it getting out of control, do you think the authorities in Bangkok are really prepared for the spread of the virus?

Stop letting Chinese come to Thailand and they might have a chance not to look at an epidemic.

 

A country that lies about the truth like China scares the shi+e out of me, no matter if it's about high speed train accidents, or a disease.
