geovalin Posted January 27, 2020 Share Posted January 27, 2020 The Cambodian embassy in Thailand yesterday denied a social media rumour saying the embassy had demanded unauthorised fees for the repatriation of injured or dead migrant workers. “In case of occupational death, the embassy will not charge for legal assistance services in returning a body for cremation whether in Thailand or Cambodia,” it said. “This also applies to families of migrants.” The embassy in a statement yesterday said a Facebook user is circulating rumours. “Recently, there has been fake news [on Facebook] saying the Cambodian embassy in Thailand is demanding fees from Cambodian workers,” it said The embassy has put a lot of effort in helping migrant workers in Thailand and has said anyone who uses its name to cheat migrant workers will face legal action.
