Surachet resigns, heading to India to be ordained

Police Lt-General Surachet Hakpal, special adviser at the Prime Minister’s Office, left the office on Sunday (January 26) to become ordained as a Buddhist monk in India for nine days, saying his decision was not political.

A source close to Surachet said he wanted to reward his parents by being ordained. He added that Surachet has acted professionally since he moved to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Earlier, Surachet had exposed details of a “low-quality" biometric identification system sold to the Royal Thai Police.

This reportedly led to his car being shot at outside a massage parlour by someone allegedly affected by the exposure.

He was forbidden by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha from giving “false” reports to his supervisors or doing anything in the civil service that might contravene an order from his commander.

I think he was told from highest what his future would be, destination wise, so my guess is he'll be gone til somebody says he can return.

When projects in the billions come along, the cake is the only bit that matters. Surely a man who reached Porridge's rank isn't that naive.

I wish. When was Prawit found guilty of corruption?  And what was the punishment?

I know, it was all so obviously true we think the courts would find it impossible to miss.

With a sigh the big wig said to him,  BJ it's over they won't shoot the car next time.

Glad he found a new avocation that's pretty much on the same level, at least in Thailand, as his old vocation....

So, since I am a bear of very little brain, is he off to be ordained in India, a process which takes nine days, or is he off to India to spend nine days in the monkhood?

latest ridiculous development in this saga, the scenario of which appears to have been written by Thai TV soap authors.

I guess he got death threats that he takes seriously and tries to go on "holy" ground to save himself.

Could there be a political career in the making? He certainly has the profile for it!

Wish there was a temple near where I was growing up so that I can reward my parents about every other week!

I just love Thai lakorns..

I use to think lakorns and thai tv drama just so unrealistic, then I found it all to be pretty much based on thailand reality  ????

Seems to me the general PM is targeting military, ex-military, police, ex-police, and as many people as possible under full authoritarian control and intimidation and killing their rights to make basic comments.

Beware general citizens.

Going to India to be ordained, to show respect to his parents, BS.

He is getting out before he gets topped because he knows too much about the shenanigans of his masters.

Ha.

You probably have never been in the military in any country in the world.

We are on the same page, I think he knows enough about the ins and outs and has certainly raised a high profile as far as the public is aware.

The shots to the car could be his doing to show he has been silent long enough, now this, what next, gotta make some more popcorn for the next, and I for one would love to see this guy as PM, see yah Prayut and clowns !!!

ActuallY I have and whilst in a thetare of war I did experience at a government inquiry having a very senior army officer standing behind me and whispering what to say to answer questions posed by the politicians inquiry (as did perhaps 10 other officers and NCOs sitting on our side of the table).

Before the session started we were all told as a group and then individually by the officer standing behind us to listen to the question from the polician (who indicated who they wanted to repond) then listen to the politically correct / expediant answer whispered by the senior officer behind, then perfectly repeat the same words.

After the hearing ended all officers and NCOs were told (intimidated) to keep their mouths shut.

Message received and understood.

I am thinking his ousting has come from the very top. Got to keep full and ABSOLUTE control.

I hope, if he ever goes to another country that the immigration will make him difficult as he does to foreigners.

He was probably right saying that , but not allowed to do so ...

Is the orange robe gig an even better way to become unusually wealthly?

So its a promotion?

On the plus side, he doesn't have to dig his own grave, yet.

He's on life #3 now. Get more amulets and hope Prawit lives a nice long life.

or he's running away, for the most  currently popular reason;

arriving at the temple (since gone hi-tech - and gets thermal scanned at the front door)
