I am looking for a translation into English for the elected office in the village for the "Or Bor Dor". Puyai Ban i would translate as "village headman", but i have no idea what to call the "Or Bor Dor".

I'm not sure exactly which position you're looking for but the "Or Bor Dor" is the Tambon (Sub-district) Administrative Organization. This is the smallest (or most local) government office. (Though in Thailand they love to call people by titles instead of names and you've probably heard been hearing anyone working for the "or bor dor" called by the title of "or bor dor." )

The elected head of the office is the NaYoke which I guess you could call the Or Bor Dor President/chairman

I would translate it as Village Treasurer. They have control of budget allocation and also have tax raising powers (though these powers have never been used in my village).

I don't know. Problem is that their job definition do exceed somewhat that of a treasurer.

I hate those titles where in the west we don't have a suitable equivalent for, gives me endless amount of headaches.

From the limited information I’ve been told of her job, her work appears similar to that of an employment officer. I.E. Finding work for people and providing ideas and assistance on new ways for villagers to earn an income.

I suspect she is working at the Te Or Bor Dor (the office), since Or Bor Dor is an elected office.

Thanks Khonwan. I will try to get her office title in thai. Maybe by dropping the Office part of the title we will get the Or Bor Dor translation.

all i know is, this is where you pay property taxes....also where they keep land records for most subdistricts...which btw is kinda odd, because to get a survey or a land property line grid you have to go to a different office...

A subdistrict administrative officer is someone working in the office as yoot said, more like the job of the friend the poster above has. It is simply a paid staff member at the subdistrict administrative office.

Don't want to be too specific, just something i was working on down south in three troubled provinces and which i have to communicate now.

I've been told อบต. or องค์การบริหารส่วนท้องถิ่น is a "Local Administrator" at Tambon level. I hope that helps.
